A funeral service for G. Wayne Anderson, 76, of Park Ridge, was held Feb. 16 in St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Interment followed in Ridgewood Cemetery. Arrangements were by Nelson Funeral Home, Park Ridge. He died Feb. 12. Surviving are his widow, Joanna M. (nee McIntyre); children Timothy (April) and Thomas (Susan); and grandchildren Christopher, Katie, Bryan, and Jonathan.

Beloved husband of Teresa, nee Rossignuolo; loving father of Gaetano Mele (Terri) Apa, Maria Teresa (Frank) Hess, Fernando Antonio (Tammy) Apa and Giuseppi Angelo Apa (fiancé Oksana Theresa Bukaczyk); proud grandfather of 7: Daniel (Tonya) Apa, Angelo (Jenett) Apa, Lyn Apa, Amy Apa, Teresa Marie Hess, Mary Ann Hess, and Frank Hess III; great-grandfather of Dasani, DeVante, Julian, Selina and Amario. Carmelo was a WWII Prisoner of War who received four medals of bravery. He was married to Teresa for 56 years, was a Master Tailor for 66 years and was in business with his wife, Teresa, for 44 years. Carmelo was a member of the Italian American Police Association. Visitation Saturday, February 21, 2009 at St. Mary Church, 794 Pearson St., Des Plaines, 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass 10:30 a.m. Entombment All Saints. A memorial service was held for Richard Benson, 83, of Arlington Hts., at Grace Lutheran Church, Mt. Prospect, on Saturday, Feb. 14. Interment was in West Batavia Cemetery. Born October 29, 1925 in Geneva, Benson died in his home on Feb. 8. He grew up in Batavia, enlisted in the Navy in World War II and was a graduate of University of Illinois as an electrical engineer. He was employed for 38 years with Commonwealth Edison. He was the husband of Betty Benson, father of sons, James (Tanya) of San Dimas, CA, Thomas (Pauline) of Houston, TX and Mark (Lynne) of Hoffman Estates. Grandfather of Lisa, Scott, Matthew, Michael, Katherine, Nathan, Trevor and Tyler. Loving brother of Mary Glynn of Rockford.

A funeral service for Emilia Z. Chromik, 89, took place Saturday, Feb. 14 at St. Zachary Church. Interment will be at St. Adalbert Cemetery. Visitation was at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles on Feb. 13. Mrs. Chromik was born on June 2, 1919 in Chicago. She died on Feb. 8, 2009 at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview. Her husbands Jan Chromik and Stanley Buchaniec preceded her in death. Her children Walter (Mariola) Buchaniec, Stanley (Stella) Buchaniec, and Theresa Badshid survive her.

Fiona Lynne Fitzpatrick, of Des Plaines, two months shy of her third birthday, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 17 at Lutheran General Hospital after a lifelong battle with Non-Ketotic Hyperglycinemia. Daughter of Mary and John; sister of Katie and Maggie; granddaughter of Walter and Bette Nohelty and John and Mary Fitzpatrick; niece of Kathy (Tom) Walczak, Lori Anne (Joe) Stanger, Cindy Nohelty, Kerry (Carlos) Molina, Mike (Weeze) Fitzpatrick, Kevin (Eileen) Nohelty, Julie (John) Falbo, Tim Fitzpatrick and Sean (Raymond Boney) Nohelty; cousin of Nicholas, Sarah and Joseph Stranger, Mackenzie and Maeve Molina; Michael, Declan and Grace Fitzpatrick, Kay and Jack Nohelty and Rachel and Megan Falbo. A celebration of Fiona's life will be held Sunday, Feb. 22 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Donnellan Family Funeral Home, 10045 Skokie Blvd., at Old Orchard Rd., Skokie. A funeral Mass for August S. "Gus" Hoyer, 92, took place Saturday, Feb. 14, at St. Colette Church in Rolling Meadows. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine. Visitation was at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Mr. Hoyer was born on Aug. 28, 1916 in Lewistown, Pa. He died on Feb. 7, 2009 at Lutheran Home in Arlington Hts. His wife of 59 years, Julianna (nee Kovach) preceded him in death. His children Marjorie (Greg) Isbrecht, Tom (Mary) Hoyer, Dan (Trudy) Hoyer, John Hoyer, Paul (Valerie) Hoyer, Edward Hoyer, and Anne (John) Becker survive him.

A funeral service for Henry J. Jones, 96, of Arlington Hts., took place Saturday, Feb. 14, at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home in Arlington Hts.. Interment was in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation preceded the service. Mr. Jones was born on Aug. 26, 1912, in Whiteford, Md. He died on Feb. 11, 2009, in Long Grove. His wife of 63 years, Mildred Jones, preceded him in death. His children Robert (Carmen) Jones and Ronald (Yvonne) Jones survive him.
Eldred Koenig

Eldred Koenig was born on July 4, 1922 in Chicago to Harold and Hazel (nee Stoike) Koenig. He passed away Feb. 6 in Arlington Hts. Koenig served as an officer in the Navy during World War II. He was active at First Presbyterian Church since becoming a member in 1959. He retired in 1983 from the Fireman's Fund after a 30-year career. He is survived by children, Kimberly (Steve) Grecan of Crystal Lake, Craig (Kathy) Koenig of Mt. Prospect and Katherine (Jeff) McVay of Arlington Hts.; grandchildren, Jamie, Sarah and Rachel Koenig and Kristen and Matthew Gecan; and his brother, Roland Koenig. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth and sister-in-law, Margaret. A memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 14 at First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Hts. Interment is private.

A funeral service for Doris Irene Lesage, 86, took place Monday, Feb. 16 at Glueckert Funeral Home in Arlington Hts.. Interment was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Hts.. Visitation was Sunday, Feb. 15 at the funeral home. Mrs. Lesage was born when where Jan. 5, 1923, in Chicago. She died on Feb. 11, 2009 at Northwest Community Healthcare Center. Her husband Robert Lesage and her children Richard (Janet) LeSage, Donald (Gayle) LeSage, and Judith Ellis survive her.

Irma A. Luebke, 92, (nee Kohfeldt) of Des Plaines died on Feb. 11 at home. Born on Aug. 6, 1916 in Chicago, she worked for many years at American Cynamid as a file clerk. She was also a homemaker. Visitation was Friday, Feb. 13 at Oehler Funeral Home Des Plaines Chapel, 2099 Miner St. Funeral service was at 11 a.m. at Oehler's. Luebke was preceded in death by her husband, William; parents Albert and Kate Kohfeldt, and brother, William Kohfeldt. Survived by son, Jerry Luebke, grandson, Jason (Carol) Luebke; great-grandchildren, Heidi, Ariel and Garrick Luebke.

A funeral Mass for Brigid D. Mackay (nee Burke), 95, took place Friday, Feb. 13 at St. John Brebeuf Church. Interment was at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday, Feb. 12, at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. Mrs. Mackay was born on Nov. 20, 1913. She died on Feb. 10, 2009 at Rainbow Hospice Ark. Her husband Michael preceded her in death. Her daughters Anna (Jim) O'Donnell and Margaret (George) Thomas survive her.

A funeral service for Raymond R. Mathis, 83, of Niles, was held Feb. 12 in Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. Interment followed in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Hts. A native of Chicago, he worked as a plasterer in construction. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 134. Surviving are sons Richard and Raymond Jr. (Jay) and granddaughter Erin Mathis.

Helen J. McCormick, 93, of Niles, died Feb. 10 in Manor Care Nursing Home, Northbrook. There were no visitation periods or funeral services. Arrangements were by Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. She was a native of Chicago. Surviving are her son, Dennis (Diane) of Northbrook, and grandchildren Amanda, David, Steven, Michael, and Kristen. Her husband, James L., her daughter, Cathleen, and her sister, Ida Jane (John) Kapel, preceded her in death.

Cheryl Ann Montoya, 58, (nee Paweleck) of Rolling Meadows died Feb. 12 in her home. She was born Aug. 30, 1950 in Evanston. A graduate of Forest View High School, Class of 1969, she worked in the health care field for many years. She was the mother of Michael (Denise), Katie (Mark) and David (Jacqueline). Grandmother of Ian, Gaby, David and Anthony Montoya. Daughter of Joseph and Joyce Paweleck. Sister of Linda Weinfurter, Joseph (Vicky) Paweleck, Cathy (Joe) Paglia and the late Robert (Judy) Paweleck. She is also survived by her dog, Daisey, many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation was Sunday, Feb. 15 at Meadows Funeral Home.

A native of Chicago, she died Feb. 9 in her home. She was a member of the Chicagoland Dalmatian Club and was secretary and a member of the Dalmatian Club of America. Widow of the late Kenneth Roovaart, she is survived by her sister, Marlyn (Howard) Levin, brother-in-law Lawrence (Elizabeth) Roovaart; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Shiuji Takei was born Oct. 30, 1925 in Oakland, CA to Nobuaki and Fude (nee Eto) Takei. He died Feb. 3 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Hts. Takei was a detainee in Japanese-American internment camps during World War II. While detained he completed his high school education and joined the U.S. Army. After his discharge from the Army he worked in his family's dry cleaning business in Oakland before moving to Chicago. He is survived by his wife Sachiko Takei, his children, June (Charles) Rosenberg, Linda and Alan Takei; his grandchildren Kari (Carl) Ferenczy, Keith (Sasha) Rosenberg, Grace, Patrick and Coco Hamann; his great grandson Ethan Rosenberg; his sisters Shizu Kuroiwa and Fuki Yamamoto and by his nieces Nancy (Danny) Yoshida and Allyce Kuroiwa and his nephew Kenneth Kuroiwa. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Ike and Susumu Takei. A memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 7 at First United Methodist Church of Arlington Hts. Burial was private.

A funeral service for Eric Arnemann Turner, 57, of Des Plaines, a well known guitar virtuoso, will be held today (Wednesday) at 7 p.m. in Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St., Des Plaines. Interment will be in Pioneers Rest Cemetery, Two Rivers, Wisconsin. He was an outstanding guitar player. He played with a number of musical groups in the area and taught guitar in Crystal Lake and Barrington. Surviving are siblings, Susan (Alejandro) Alegre, Robert (the late Melinda), and David (Alicia) Turner, and nieces and nephews Michelle, Kristine, Philip, Susannah, Yolanda, Alex, and Wesley.

Charles M. Walsh, 73, of Niles died at Lutheran General Hospital on Tuesday, Feb. 3. He was born in Chicago on Aug. 16, 1935. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office. Visitation at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home was Friday, Feb. 6 followed by services on Feb. 7 at Skaja and St. John Brebeuf Church. Burial in All Saints Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Margaret Walsh. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Walsh, daughters, Peggy (Mike) Ryan, Tina (Pat) Connor, grandchildren, Megan and Katie Ryan, Mitch, Grant, Reed and Kent Connor, sister Margie and uncle of many. Elsie June Wayne, (nee Peterson), 70 of Arlington Hts., formerly of Evanston, died Feb. 12 at Northwest Community Hospital. Born June 22, 1930 in Iola, Wisconsin, she worked for Northwestern University as a secretary for over 20 years. She was the wife of the late William. Mother of Mark (Carol) and Gary. Grandmother of Karen, Kevin, Keely, Katelyn and Meagan Wayne. Sister of Richard (Patricia) Peterson. Visitation was Sunday, Feb. 15, at Meadows Funeral Home. Interment at Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie.

Aniela Wiacek, 92, of Chicago, died Thursday, Jan. 29 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born on July 14, 1916 in Chicago and was a Janitress. Visitation was at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 31. Funeral service was at Skaja on Monday, Feb. 2 and St. Juliana Church on Monday, Feb. 2. Burial was in St. Adalbert Cemetery on Milwaukee Ave. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Antoni and Rosalia Wrobel; sons Casey Wiacek and Stanley Wiacek. She is survived by her granddaughter, Eva Selser of Niles; son, Frank Wiacek, grandchildren, Frank R. Wiacek, Cathy Wiacek, Bernadette Szewczyk; great grandchildren, Angela, Richard, Samantha, Paige, Veronica, Joshua, Jaqueline and Jessica.
