Robert A. Adamczyk

Prayers and a funeral mass for Robert A. Adamczyk, 77, were held Monday, Feb. 2 at Glueckert Funeral Home and Our Lady of the Wayside Church, Arlington Heights. Interment took place in Memory Gardens, Arlington Heights. Mr. Adamczyk was born June 13, 1931 in Chicago to Edward and Anastasia (nee Brenowski) Adamczyk. He passed away on Jan. 29, 2009, in Arlington Heights. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cecilia (nee Bauer); his children, Robert (the late Diane), Ron (Jessica), Janis (Dave) Swanson, and grandchildren Robert Jr. and Rachel Adamczyk and David and Kendall Swanson. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Edward and sister Annette Dvorak.
Nick Bastounes
Store Owner
A funeral service for Nick Bastounes, 79, a retired produce store owner and Des Plainesite for 47 years, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (today) in St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 2350 E. Dempster, Des Plaines. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove. A native of Chicago, he died Jan. 29. He was the owner of Capital Wholesale Produce in Chicago for 30 years until 1997. Surviving are his widow, Stella (nee Gianoulis); children Niki Ann (Fred) Lussow, Dean (JoAnn), Cindy (the late Andy) Wierzba, and Tom (Lisa); and seven grandchildren, Nick and Fred Lussow, and Nick, Elliott, Estelle, Sophia, and Irene Bastounes.
Herbert Budig

A funeral service for Herbert Budig, 76, took place Saturday, Jan. 31, at St. Emily Church. Entombment was at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines. Visitation was Friday, Jan. 30, at Friedrichs Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect. Mr. Budig was born on May 28, 1932 in Chicago. He died on Jan. 27, 2009 at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago. His wife Frances Budig (nee Luif) and his children Bill (Carol) Budig, Bob (Danielle) Budig, Frank (Audrey) Budig, and Carolyn (Ed) Lipowski survive him.
Rollie C. Burke

A funeral service for Rollie C. Burke, 80, of Niles, was held privately. Mr. Burke was born August 14, 1928 in Millen, Georgia. He passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009 at Bethany Terrace Nursing Home. He is survived by wife Eileen and sons Rollie Jr. (Cathy) and Roger (Hilda).
Helen P. Charnas
101 Years Old
Visitation and services for Helen P. Charnas, 101, were held Monday, Feb. 2 at Severino's River Woods Funeral Chapels in Des Plaines. Interment took place at Masonic and Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton, Ill. Ms. Charnas was born Jan. 14, 1908 in Benton and died Jan. 27 in the Aldens of Des Plaines nursing facility. She and her late husband Constantine were long-time residents of Evergreen Park and founded and operated G.B. Charnas Co., an industrial painting and steel company. She was preceded in death by her older sister Gilda and younger sister Tilda. She is survided by a nephew, great-nephew and great-great nephews, and several nieces.
Audrey W. Daemicke

A funeral service and interment for Audrey W. Daemicke (nee West), 81, were private. Her husband Warren B. Daemicke preceded her in death. Her children Joyce D. (Burt) Rodgers and Dale W. (Songju) Daemicke survive her. Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home in Palatine made funeral arrangements.
Dr. John W. Davis
Dentist in DP for 40 Years
A memorial service will be held for Dr. John W. Davis, on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. at First Congregational Church, 766 Graceland Ave., Des Plaines. Dr. Davis was born July 5, 1918 in Arena, Wisconsin. He lived in Waukegan and Edison Park. He was drafted into the Army in 1941 and assigned to the Army Medical Corps, 56th Evacuation Hospital. He was enlisted for two years, went to officers school and was commissioned 2d lieutenant. Dr. Davis set up practice in Des Plaines and worked for 50 years in the community. He and Dr. Arthur Rothenberg, M.D., designed and contracted for the building of the Des Plaines Medical Arts Building. Dr. Davis was married to Juanita Genter. She was a teacher in the Park Ridge school system. They have one son, Dr. William G. Davis, who currently practices dentistry in the Medical Arts Building. He is married with two children. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Congregational Church, Park Ridge VFW or the Des Plaines American Legion are appreciated. Funeral care provided by G.L. Funeral services for William Fugate were held Saturday, Feb. 1 at Countryside Funeral Home with burial following at Assumption Cemetery. Fugate was born on Feb. 6, 1919 and passed away on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009. He was a military veteran. Fugate is survived by his children Diane Bucaro, Linda Mariel, Bill Jr. (Lori), Jane (Gil) Michelotti, Nancy Wildman and Steve (Melanie), 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary A. (nee Modory).

Interment was at All Saints Cemetery. Ms. Perez was born Dec. 3, 1947 in Mexico. She and husband Guillermo owned El Mexico Grocery Store in downtown Des Plaines. She passed away on Jan. 29, 2009 in her home. She is survived by husband Guillermo, sons Horacio (Carmina), Alejandro (Ana) and Guillermo Jr., daughters Lilia (Alonso) Ramirez, Angelica and Claudia and grandchildren Viviana, Kyle, Vianey and Karina.

James Edward Johnson

A funeral mass for James Edward Johnson was held in St. James Church on Friday, Jan. 30 with interment following at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday, Jan. 29 at Glueckert Funeral Home. Mr. Johnson was born Jan. 27, 1942 in Waterloo, Iowa, and died at his home in Arlington Heights on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009. Johnson graduated from St. Ambrose University and completed his MBA at the University of Chicago. He worked as an accountant for North Shore University Health Systems. He was a doting father and devoted Northwestern University Wildcat fan. Johnson is survived by his wife of 44 years Karen; children Julie (Andy) Wallace, Jenny, and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Johnson; grandchildren Jasmine and Jordan Edward Johnson, and Sydney and Emily Wallace and siblings Jacquie (the late Michael) Kallman, Barbara Ackerson, Mary (Richard Jr.) Burroughs, Trudy (Jerry) Lines and Rosemary Meekins. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Evelyn Johnson and his brother Bud (Eileen) Johnson.

Ella Meyer, 95, of Arlington Hts. died Jan. 29 at The Lutheran Home. She was born June 19, 1913 in Arlington Hts. Meyer worked as an accountant for many years for Butler Comp in Des Plaines. She was the daughter of the late Phillip and Emma Meyer, sister of the late Della, Elsie, Alfred, Arthur, Ted, Elmer and Herman Meyer, Dora Bencic, Mary Pohlman, Clara Trost, Lena Held and Anna Hinneberg. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. Visitation was Tuesday, Feb. 3 until the time of service at The Lutheran Home, 800 W. Oakton, Arlington Hts. Interment was in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Adrien Pearson of Des Plaines, died on Feb. 2. Entombment will be in All Saints Cemetery. Born on June 17, 1924 in Canada, Winnepeg, Pearson was a veteran of World War II, was in the Coast Guard and worked as a carpenter. He is survived by his wife, Lee (nee Lash); daughter, Michele Stinger, son, Randall (Susan) Pearson, grandchildren Roberta (Tony) Gordon, Julie Tully, Rebecca Stinger, Jeremy Pearson, great grandchildren, Megan, Mia, Brendon, Abigail, Natalie, Gillian, Caitlin, brother, Edward (Marilyn) Pearson.
