She was an avid gardener and a lover of all living creatures who never turned away a stray human or animal. ELEANOR CAPOBIANCO Of Niles

A funeral service for Eleanor M. Capobianco, 75, was held Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. The interment was held at All Saints Cemetery. Ms. Capobianco died on Saturday, Feb. 17, at Resurrection Medical Center. She worked as a homemaker. ANITA E. CHALLBERG of Des Plaines

A funeral service for Anita E. Challberg (nee Nordeen), 85, of Des Plaines, was held Feb. 24 at Oehler Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Challberg was born May 9, 1921 in Chicago. She graduated from Austin High School in Chicago in 1939 and Augustana School of Nursing in Chicago in 1944. She taught nursing at Augustana Hospital then worked as a psychiatric nurse at Forest Hospital in Des Plaines. She died on Feb. 19 following a stroke. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ernest, her children Carol (Ken) Beausang, Edward Challberg, Don Challberg, and Roy (Robin) Challberg, her grandchildren Scott Beausang, Amy Beausang, Sandra Challberg-Abdalian, A.J. Barber, Nicole Challberg, Erik Challberg, Matthew Challberg, and Melanie Challberg, her great grandchildren Anthony Beausang, Michael Beausang, and Joseph Beausang, and her siblings C. Howard (Dolly) Nordeen and Harriet Olsen.

VIVIAN DOBBELAERE Formerly of Des Plaines

Vivian Dobbelaere, formerly of Des Plaines, died Saturday, Feb. 24 in Crystal Lake. She was 88. Funeral services will be held Friday, Mar. 2 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Algonquin. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until mass at 11 a.m. Dobbelaere was born in Chicago on Dec. 29, 1918. She is survived by her husband William P. Dobbelaere; children Joseph (Georgia), Vivian (Robert) Heinrich, Teresa (Michael) Mahoney; sister Jean (Ed) Corra; 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. ROGER E. ERICKSON Of Des Plaines World War II veteran

A funeral service for Roger E. Erickson, 89, of Des Plaines, will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday, Mar. 1) at Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Visitation will take place today (Wednesday) from 3 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private. Mr. Erickson was born on Jan. 9, 1918 in Chicago. He was a veteran of the Army in WWII and a plant engineer in the roll forming industry from 1950 to 2002. He was the current secretary treasurer of he Oak Meadow Sanitary District and former secretary treasurer of the North Maine Fire Protection District. In his free time. Erickson was an avid pheasant hunter, fisherman and canoeist. He died on Feb. 24, 2007 at his home. He is preceded in death by his wife Olive E. Mr. Erickson is survived by his daughters Gail E. (late William) Petersdorff and Ida Lynn (Gerald) Gredde, son Roger H. (Jeanne) Erickson, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and special friend Marjorie Crighton. AMANDA HERZOG Of Des Plaines

A funeral service for Amanda M. Herzog, 88, took place Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The interment was held at Acacia Park Cemetery in Chicago. Ms. Herzog was born on Apr.23, 1918 in Chicago. She died on Friday, Feb. 23 at Lee Manor Nursing Home. She was a bookkeeper for 25 years at Benjamin Electric of Des Plaines. She also worked at ITT in Des Plaines for 20 years. In addition, Ms. Herzog was a member of the choir at Trinity Lutheran Church for 40 years. She was survived in death by her sister-in-laws Lorraine (late Edwin) Herzog and Evelyn (late Robert) Herzog, nieces Sandra (John) Dunphey, Norene Rolenitus, Kathy (Keith) Voss, Cindi (Dan) Carrigan and Linda (Gene) Englehart, nephews Dale (Carrie) Herzog, Dennis (Barbara) Herzog and Wayne (Dulce) Herzog. GERTRUDE KLANN Of Niles

NANCY ONNEN Of Arlington Heights

A funeral service for Nancy Onnen (nee Swift), 73, was held on Monday, Feb. 26, at Faith Lutheran Church. Interment was at Memory Gardens. Ms. Onnen was born on Aug. 11, 1933 in Harlan, Iowa. She died on Thursday, Feb. 22, in Arlington Heights. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church, serving as chairman of the altar guild and teaching Sunday school. She was also involved in Care Ministry and volunteered at Manor Care. In college, she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority at Drake University, where she met her husband. Ms. Onnen is survived by her husband of 50 years Richard E. Onnen, children Elizabeth (Scott) Baumann and John (Vicki) Onnen, grandchildren Jennifer and Kevin Baumann and Samantha and Amanda Onnen, and siblings Freeman Swift and Cynthia (William) Murphy. She was preceded in death by her parents Russell F. and Aasta (nee Boysen) Swift, brother Russell A. Swift, son Russell R. Onnen and grandson Jonathan R. Onnen. DZIDRA OZOLS of Chicago

JOSEPH PELLIZZERI Of Prospect Heights

He was also active in the Prospect Heights Garden Club and the local Boy Scouts. He died on Feb. 24, 2007 at his home. Shirley V. Saffold, 85, former Des Plaines Library employee and mother of Mt. Prospect Trustee A. John Korn, passed away Feb. 25 at her home. Scaffold was a resident of Des Plaines for 65 years. She was also a recipient of the Silver Fawn Award for Boy Scouts of America - the highest award given to woman volunteers. She is survived by her children A. He was also a member of the Des Plaines Frisbie Senior Center. He passed away Feb. 24 at Lutheran General Hospital. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Mae Krach and Mary (Russ) Moses and his grandson Daniel Harper II. He is survived by his wife, Mary A.
