BANNER Of Morton Grove
A funeral service and visitation for Lillian A. "Lil" Banner (nee Loyland), 99, resident of Morton Grove for 53 years, took place yesterday at Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Interment was private.
Mrs. Banner was born Dec. 12, 1907 in Thief River Falls, Minn. She was very active at St. Luke's Christian Community Church of Morton Grove and the Norwegian Women's Club in Chicago. She also loved playing cards at the Morton Grove Senior Center. She passed away Monday, Jan. 15 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Hts.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William J. Banner. She is survived by her sons Thomas J. (Joan) Banner and Michael W. Banner, both retired local police officers (Morton Grove and Des Plaines, respectively), her sister Amber Walker, her grandchildren James Banner, Thomas (Jessie) Banner, Jeffrey Friend, and Kimberlee Banner, and two great grandchildren.

CURCURO Of Niles
Funeral services for Eleanor Curcuro, 94, of Niles took place on Saturday, Jan. 20 at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home and St. John Brebeuf Church. Visitation was the previous day. Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Curcuro was born Mar. 23, 1912. An electronics factory worker, she passed away at home on Wednesday, Jan. 17.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Antonia (nee Catone) Roccosanto and John Hoccosanto, and her husband Nathan Curcuro. She is survived by her children Marie (Anothony) Chomenko and James F. (Jeanette) Curcuro, her grandchildren James N., Eleanor Curcuro, Anthony (Nancy) Chomenko, and Jeanette (Steve) Hess, six great grandchildren, and her siblings Angelino (the late Dominick) Balsamo, Nick (the late Loona), and Frank (Norma) Roccosanto. She was aunt to many.

DOYLE Of Park Ridge
Funeral services for Marion J. Doyle, 86, of Park Ridge took place on Monday, Jan. 22 at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home and St. Brebeuf Church. Visitation was the previous day. Interment was private.
Mrs. Doyle worked as a liquor store proprietor. She was born in Chicago on Aug. 22, 1920 and passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret (nee Calamari) and James Callero, and her husband James Doyle. She is survived by her children, Margaret Mary (Howard) Thomas and James Doyle, and her grandchildren Michael (Jessica) Doyle, Brian Doyle, Kevin Doyle, and Ryan Thomas. She was aunt to many.

FEATHERSTONE of Elk Grove Village
A funeral service for Margie Featherstone, 77, of Elk Grove Village, was held on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at Grove Memorial Chapel.
Visitation was also held on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment was private.
Ms. Featherstone was born in Sharon, Tenn. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Elk Grove Senior Center. She died on Jan. 19 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harold.
Ms. Featherstone is survived by her sons Wayne (Sue) and Larry, daughter Sherry, brothers Tom (George) and Eugene (Judy) Adams and grandchildren Annie, Christy, Robert, Amanda, Steven, Ashley, Kyle, Heather, Teague, and Erin.

A funeral service for Gertrude Halloran nee Gorham, 74, took place on Friday, Jan. 19 at St. Rosalie Church in Harwood Heights. Interment was at Maryhill Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday, Jan. 18 at Cooney Funeral Home in Park Ridge.
Mrs. Halloran was born in Ballyconneely, County Galway, Ireland. She died on Jan. 15, 2007.
Her brother John preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband Patrick; her children Bernard (Patty), John (Teresa), Patsi (Dominick) DelMonico, Barbara (Godfried) Ravelingeen and David (Laurie); her grandchildren Erin (Nick), Stephen, Patrick, Caitlin, Dominique, Joseph, Adrienne and Justin; her siblings May (the late Brian) Rice, Agnes Gorham, Kathleen (Ivor) Denely, Joe (Anne), Eileen and Nora (Bob) Brown; many nieces and nephews who knew her as Auntie Goo; many cousins; and her friends "The Club Girls."

A funeral Mass for Raymond D. Kapolnek, took place on Monday, Jan. 22, at Queen of the Rosary Church. Interment was at Maryhill Cemetery in Niles. Visitation was Sunday, Jan. 21, at Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove Village.
Mr. Kapolnek was born in Chicago. He worked for BancGroup Mortgage and died at home on Jan. 18, 2007.
His brother George (Mary) Kapolnek preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife Stephanie D. nee Ward; his daughters Debbie (Tim) Butler and Peggy (Blair) Nuccio; his brothers Jim (Mary Ann), Dick (Barbara), Bob (Jackie), Tom (Diane), David (Gretchen) and Don (Bonnie); his sisters Maryann (Jack) Cerney, Sue (Walter) Bronson, Karen (Don) Neustadt, Joyce (John) Furtkamp and Joan (Howard) Henneman; his grandchildren Alecia, Kyle Butler, Brooke and Nicholas Nuccio; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Anne B. Kapuscinski was held on Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Skaja Terrace Funeral Home.
Ms. Kapuscinski was born on May 27, 1918 in Chicago. She died on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the Alexian Brothers Medical Center.
Ms. Kapuscinski worked in the entertainment field as a ventriloquist.
She was survived by her niece Susan (Kenneth) Cwick and great-niece Tracy Cwick.
Ms. Kapuscinski was preceded in death by her mother Angela Kapuscinski (nee Szymkowski), father John Kapuscinski, and sister Lillian (late Chester) May.

KEARNEY of Arlington Heights
A funeral service for Peter J. Kearney, 95, was held on Monday, Jan. 22, at Our Lady of the Wayside Church.
Mr. Kearney was born on Jan. 17, 1912. He died on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at Northwest Community Hospital.
He worked as an accountant for Ceco Steel Company for over 40 years.
Mr. Kearney was survived by his wife Charlotte (nee Frankowiak), and children Patrick (Diane), Michael, Robert (Deborah), Thomas (Linda), and Lorraine (Robert) Meach.
He was also survived by nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Mr. Kearney was preceded in death by his brothers John, Will, Tom, and Jim, and his sister Mary Kearney.

WWII Army Veteran
A funeral service for Noble Kuecker, 83, of Des Plaines, was held on Saturday, Jan. 20 at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Kuecker was born in Arlington Heights. He was a WWII Army Veteran and a resident of Des Plaines since 1937. He died on Jan. 17, 2007 in Park Ridge.
He is preceded in death by his brother Emmett and Arnold (Mae) Kuecker.
He is survived by his wife Frances E., children Frances E. (Mark) Schuweiler and Crystal D. Kuecker (Doug Shutts), brother Woodrow (late Willie Mae), and grandchildren Crystal and Catherine Shutts.

LITTLE SR. Formerly of Des Plaines
A funeral service for Charles W. "Chuck" Little Sr., 62, of Kenosha, formerly of Des Plaines, was held on Thursday, Jan. 18 at Oehler Funeral Home with Deacon John F. Lorbach presiding.
Visitation also took place on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment was private.
Mr. Little was born on June 1, 1944 in Chicago. He was a driver for Lee Auto Parts in Des Plaines for seven years and worked 23 years as a custodian for Maine West High School. He loved to play the Lotto, watch game shows and see the Salmon jump off the shores of Lake Michigan. He was a 61 year resident of Des Plaines. He died on Jan. 16, 2007 at Libertyville Medical Center.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Tammie A. Little and brother Kenneth Little.
Mr. Little is survived by his wife Elizabeth A. "Betty", daughter Lora M. (Charles) Bryniarski, son Charles W. Little Jr., grandchildren Kaitlyn, Max, Emelye, and Jillian, and brother Leonard.

MARCYAN Marine and Air Force Veteran
A funeral service for Thaddeus R. "Ted" Marcyan, 81, was held on Saturday, Dec. 30 at Our Lady of The Brook Church.
Visitation was held on Friday, Dec. 29 at Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Home in Niles. Interment was at St. Adalbert Cemetery.
Mr. Marcyan was born in Chicago in 1925. He worked as a traffic engineer for the City of Chicago in the 50's and 60's and was a engineer for the Illinois Commerce Commission and national executive utilities engineer for Montgomery Ward and Co. In the mid 70's, he was appointed to the Northbrook Illinois Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Commission. He finished his career as program manager for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps V-12 program during WWII and was later a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. His interests included archeology, genealogy, astronomy, carpentry, woodworking, and electronics.
Mr. Marcyan is survived by his wife Helen N., children Carlton (Ana) and Christopher, grandchildren Maggie, Colt and Baron and sister Sophie Pietras.

MEUSE of Arlington Heights
A funeral service for Carol Jean Meuse, 77, of Arlington Heights, is pending.
Ms. Meuse was born on Feb. 27, 1929 in Evanston. She worked as a secretary for a real estate company. She was the care giver to her best friend and husband. She died on Jan. 22, 2007 at Northwest Community Hospital.
Ms. Meuse is survived by her husband Joseph, children Michael and Richard (Marsha) Corbett, grandchildren Megan and Erin Corbett, and sister Marilynn (Bruce) Arnoux.

A funeral service for Lawrence A. Pishchke, 82, of Des Plaines took place Tuesday, Jan. 23, at G.L. Hills Funeral Home. Visitation was the previous day. Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Hts.
Mr. Pischke, a World War II Army Veteran, was born in Chicago. He worked for Illinois Tool Works for 43 years and lived in Des Plaines for 53. He passed away in Park Ridge on Friday, Jan. 19.
He is preceded in death by his loving daughter Laurene. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Laverne (nee Eggert) Pischke, his loving sons Scott (Mary Ann) Pischke and Alan Pischke, his dearest siblings Martin (Rose) Pischke, Norbert (Betty) Pischke, Marlis (George) Pleickhardt, Robert (Corrine) Pischke, Rose Marie (the late Frank) Bigden, Dorothy (Earl) Kelly, Donald Pischke, Art (Beverly) Pischke, Ray (Sorrell) Pischke, and Audrey (Daniel) Kwiatkowski, his dearest brother-in-law Harold (Martha) Eggert, Ruth (the late Leroy) Moranz, and Elaine (Einar) Swanson. He was loving grandfather to Daniel and fond uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Alice Rauschert nee Russ, 92, took place on Thursday, Jan. 18, at Cooney Funeral Home in Park Ridge. Interment was at R1idgewood Cemetery. Visitation was on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Rauschert died on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007.
Her husband Robert W. preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children Carolyn, Donald (Mary), Eileen (Howard) Johnson and Fred (Melissa); her grandchildren John, Robert, Peter, Tim, Julianna, Patrick, Robert, Kris, Michael, Nicholas, Lisa and Joe; and her 11 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service for Charles Rehayem, 82, was held on Thursday, Jan. 18, at Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Lombard. Ther interment was at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Mr. Rehayem was born on Oct. 1, 1924, and died on Jan. 16.
He worked as a computer programmer in the airline business.
Mr. Rehayem was survived by his beloved wife Helene A., children Raymond Rehayem and Jeanne Harman, grandchildren Cassidy and Emma, nephews Roger, Roby (Ruth), and John (Chris), niece Julie (Bruce), and Godchild Kristy.

A funeral service for Dorothy Roux, 87, was held on Thursday, Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Des Plaines.
Visitation took place Wednesday at the Olson-Burke/Sullivan Funeral and Cremation Center in Chicago. Interment will be at Maryhill Cemetery in Niles.
Ms. Roux is preceded in death by her husband Neal.
She is survived by her sons Phil (Cheryl) and Steve (Elaine), grandchildren Jason, Renee (Paul) Moreno, Sean, Neal, and Paul and great-grandchild Austin.

RUBINKOWSKI Of Rolling Meadows
Veteran of World War II
A funeral service for Sigmund Rubinkowski, 84, was held on Monday, Jan. 22, at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Chicago.
Mr. Rubinkowski was born on Feb. 9, 1922 in Chicago. He died Thursday, Jan. 18, at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.
He was a model maker and supervisor for Tele Type Corp. for many years. He was also a World War II veteran, serving in the navy, as well as a member of the American Legion Post 923.
Mr. Rubinkowski was a member of the St. Colette Church, Rolling Meadows Senior Center, and the Telephone Pioneer. He collected money for the start of Northwest Community Hospital.
He was survived by his wife Lee Rubinkowski (nee Zak), children Conrad (Kathryn), Adrienne, Greg, and Gerard (Katy), and grandchildren Leo, Mark, Hope, and Zak.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Diabetes Association, Alzheimers Foundation, or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society are appreciated.

SLOWIK of Des Plaines
First Lt. in U.S. Army
A funeral procession for Matthew W. Slowik, 85, of Des Plaines took place Monday, Jan. 22, from Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles to St. Hyacinth Church for Mass. Visitation was Sunday.
Mr. Slowik was born July 27, 1921 in Chicago. He attended DePaul and Loyola universities. For four years beginning in 1942 he was First Lieutenant in the United States Army (24th Div.). During his tenure in the military, he earned four battle stars and a cornucopia of other service and victory medals. He served faithfully from 1942 to 1952.
He entered politics in 1952, joining the 35th Ward Regular Republican Organization as precinct captain. He held elected positions in the 35th ward throughout most of the 1960's, and was elected Delegate to the Republican National Convention at Chicago in 1960 and at Miami in 1968. He was also candidate or active member in copious Republican organizations.
From the 1950's until the 1980's he balanced his political career with a successful entrepreneurial and business career. He was owner and partner of Slowik Realty and Slowik Family Restaurant and Banquet Hall, and also served as Director of Parkview Savings and Loan Assn. He was appointed in 1956 as Assistant Superintendent of the Illinois Women's and Children's Div. Dept. of Labor. He was an appointed investigator for the Illinois Dept. of Registration and Education until he retired in 1983.
Mr. Slowik was active in a number of fraternal and civic organizations, including AmVets, Knights of Columbus, Polish-American Political League and Businessmen's Club, Who's Who in the Midwest, American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, and Boy Scouts of America.
The lifelong White Sox fan passed away Friday, Jan. 18.
He is preceded in death by his beloved brothers John (Agnes) Slowik and William (Frances) Slowik. He is survived by his loving nieces Theresa (Donald) Blasi, Mary (Louis) Gonzales, Claudia (Jerry) Giannini, Agnes (Steven) Hipwell, and Vincent, his dear grand niece Holli Hipwell, Victoria Giannini, Joseph Blasi, and Scott Hipwell, and dear friends Jennie Siedlecki and Lukasz Kaczmarski.

A funeral service for Lucille R. Sughero nee Macaluso, 88, took place on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove Village. Interment was at St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove. Visitation preceded the service.
Mrs. Sughero was born in Chicago. She died on Jan. 19, 2007 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village.
Her husband Andrew and her son Joseph preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters Antoinette (Michael) Bert, Susan (Garland) Wooldridge and Cecilia (Joseph) Krug and her grandchildren Marc, Daniel, April, Sarah and Kristin.

A funeral service for Betty L. Tarzian, 58, was held Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home. Mass was at Holy Family Parish.
Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery in McHenry.
Ms. Tarzian was born in Evanston. She died on Jan. 19, 2007 in McHenry.
She is survived by her children Wendy, Joseph (Kelly) and Stephen (Heidi), grandchildren Jacqueline, Marissa and Paige Tarzian, siblings Joan Groneman, Diane (Richard) Powers, Carl (Joan) Favaro, Rosemary (Don) Mete and Stephanie (William) Brennan and many nieces and nephews.

THOMPSON Of Des Plaines
Veteran of World War II
A memorial service for Samuel R. Thompson, 83, was held on Thursday, Dec. 28, at Oehlers Funeral Home in Des Plaines.
Mr. Thompson was borin on Dec. 15, 1923 in Ohio. He died on Friday, Dec. 22, after suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
He came to Chicago at the age of 25 after serving in World War II. He worked as a cook at the Sugar Bowl under the restaurant's original owners.
Mr. Thompson is preceded in death by his wife Virginia "Ruth" (nee Hallgrimson).
He was survived by his children Patricia (Joe) Giallombardo, Samuel Thompson, Ruth (Jerry) Shugart, and his grandchildren Amanda and Joseph Giallombardo. He will also be missed by many friends and family.
