Walter L. Doctor, Sr.

Of Des Plaines

Walter L. Doctor, Sr., died on June 24. He was the husband of Harriet A.; father of Walter, Jr., (Rosemary) and Richard (Suzanne); grandfather of Anthony, Gina, Steven, Alaethia and Phillip; great-grandfather of Alec, Elise, Teah, Olivia, Collin and Buster. A funeral service was held Saturday, June 27 at Matz Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect. Interment was in Irving Park Cemetery.

Ruth M. DuBrule

Of Wheeling

A funeral service for Ruth M. DuBrule (nee Pease), 88, of Wheeling, was held June 30 in Kolssak Funeral Home, Wheeling. Interment was in Oakridge Cemetery, Hillside. Surviving are her daughter, Ellen (Lee) Wales-Mannheimer; and grandchildren Daniel, Jennifer, Kevin, Karen, and Mary Christine; plus three great-grandchildren.

George F. Edminster

Of Arlington Hts.

George F. Edminster was born Dec. 30, 1934 in Dodge Center, Minnesota. He died June 21 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Hts. He is survived by his wife, Camille; children, Sharon Rowlen, Ken (Kim Hoffman) Edminster and Daniel (Michelle) Edminster; grandchildren Spencer, Carter, Dylan, Zoe, Cassidy and Alexis; and by his sisters Doris (Chuck) Freeman and Dorothy. A Memorial Mass was held June 24 at St. Edna Catholic Church in Arlington Hts. Interment was private.

William M. Fisher, Jr.

Of Des Plaines

Funeral services for William M. "Bill" Fisher, 58, were held Thursday, June 25, at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, Des Plaines. Mr. Fisher passed away Sunday, June 21, in Des Plaines. He was an artist who won local awards for his work. He was the son of William M. and the late Doris; stepson of Verna; brother of Susan Ogle, Kathleen (Mark) Schark, Mary (Michael) Hall, Laura (Don Copper) Fisher, John (Jeri), Kevin (Karen), Robert (Shawna) and the late David; uncle of 13 nieces and nephews; and fond great-uncle of eight nieces and nephews.

Mark Marvin Flugardt

Of Elk Grove Village

Mark Marvin Flugardt, 55, of Elk Grove Village, was born Oct. 31, 1953. He died Wednesday, June 17 in Elk Grove Village. Survivors include his daughter, Madeleine and son, Steven Flugardt; sister, Lynn Freitag, and niece, Devon. A funeral service took place Wednesday, June 24, at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd. Interment was in Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery, Elgin.

Lindsay Judith Gillilan

Formerly of Mt. Prospect

A memorial gathering for Lindsay Judith Gillilan, 28, of Schaumburg, formerly of Mt. Prospect, took place Saturday, June 27, at First United Methodist Church in Arlington Hts. She was born Apr. 13, 1981 in Arlington Hts. and passed away suddenly June 21. Ms. Gillilan was the daughter of Bruce and Marta Gillilan; fiancée of James Draz; sister of Brett (Rebekah) Gillilan and Kara (Colin) Murphy; aunt of Quinn and Aidan. She was a Prospect High School graduate who taught special education Kindergarten in Lake Zurich. Friedrichs Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Carter T. Hayden

Of Rolling Meadows

Carter T. Hayden (nee Tangney), 62, of Rolling Meadows, died June 2 at her home.  Born Apr. 22, 1947, in Chicago, she was a board member of the American Cancer Society, Children's Home and Aid Society and had volunteered at Misericordia, Northwest Community Hospital Emergency Room, Lutheran General Hospital Emergency Room, St. Alexius Hospital Emergency Room and Children's memorial Pediatric Intensive Care. She became a CNA at Harper College. She was the wife of Christopher; mother of Kelly (Michael) Penn, Sean (Melissa) and Mackenzie (Cannon) Moss; grandmother of Alexandra and Chase Hayden, Delaney and Hayden Penn. A memorial service was held on Friday, June 5 at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows.

Alice H. Kantorowicz

Of Park Ridge

A Funeral Mass for Alice H. Kantorowicz, 93, was held at St. Paul of the Cross Church in Park Ridge on Tuesday, June 23. Interment followed in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines. Mrs. Kantorowicz passed away Friday, June 19, in Barrington. She was a member of the St. Paul of the Cross Church choir for over 40 years. She was the wife of the late Ted F.; mother of Todd (Judy), Ken (Ann) and the late Marcia; grandmother of Kayne (Amber) and Ryan Kantorowicz, and Kelly (David) Barista; great-grandmother of Kyler and Jonah Kantorowicz; sister of Elaine Zack.

Margaret Jane Kasper

Formerly of Des Plaines

Margaret Jane Kasper, (nee Bobbitt), 90, of Grayslake, formerly of Des Plaines, died on June 23. She was the wife of the late Joseph; mother of Joanne Ross, Lynn Ryan, Joseph (Julie), Mary (Quinn) Lanus, Patti (Jeff) McCarty, Bob, the late John Walter and Lee; grandmother of 19; great-grandmother of 19; sister of Jean (Ed) Laitis, the late Richard, Harold, Lillian and Clarence; aunt of many nieces and nephews. A funeral service was Monday, June 29 at Matz Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect and St. Julian Eymard Church, Elk Grove Village for Mass. Interment was at All Saints.

Daniel T. Klaus

Of Arlington Hts.

Danny Klaus was born in Chicago on Feb. 8, 1976. He died on May 13 in Arlington Hts.

He is survived by his parents; his brothers; Douglas and Charles; his sisters, Jeanne and Aimee; and his fiancée, Maureen Weck. Prayers were said on May 18, at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd. and Mass was conducted at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, Arlington Hts. Interment was at Maryhill Cemetery.

Stephen Robert Kustra

Formerly of Glenview

A Funeral Mass was held for Stephen Robert Kustra, 37, formerly of Glenview on Saturday, June 27 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church with internment following at All Saints Cemetery. Visitation took place Friday, June 26 at the N.H. Scott & Hanekamp funeral home in Glenview.  Kustra was born in Springfield, Ill. on Aug. 4, 1977 and died after two battles with cancer on Friday, June 19, 2009 in San Francisco.  Kustra grew up in Glenview attending Hoffman Elementary School, Glenbrook South High School and the University of Illinois. He was a talented writer and musician and a life long Cubs fan.  Stephen was the son of Robert (Kathy) Kustra and Joyce (Robert) Schmit. Robert Kustra was a Glenview village trustee, candidate for United States Senate and is currently president of Boise State University.  Robert Kustra and his wife, former Park Ridge City Clerk Kathy Kustra, donated $35,000 to establish the Stephen R. Kustra scholarship for the Master's in Fine Arts in Creative Writing at Boise State.  Stephen is also survived by his fiancée Cassandra Fritzen, sister Jennifer (Paul) Quinn, nephews; Brendan, Tommy and Michael Quinn, stepsiblings; Matthew Breidert, Nancy Steffens, Susie Marker and Patty Hintzman and their families, aunts, uncles and cousins and his faithful dog of 14 years, Marvin.

Mary E. Massion

Niles Master Gardener

A funeral mass for Mary Elizabeth Massion, 86, a former long-time Niles master gardener, was celebrated June 30 in St. John Brebeuf Church. Interment was private. Arrangements were by Skaja Terrace Funeral home. A native of Indianapolis, she died June 25. She was a well-known master gardener of both flowers and vegetables.  She was preceded by her husband of 28 years, Harold L. Massion. Surviving are children Harold E. Massion (Debbie), and Peter J. (Virginia); grandchildren Angelle, Robert L (Suwanna); and Robin R. Schulz; and great-grandchildren Salina, Cody, Landon, Madison, and Cooper.

Mary I. Pearce

Of Wheeling

Mary I. Pearce (nee Stewart), age 75, of Wheeling, died on June 21. She was a long-time employee of Allen Visual Systems. A funeral service was at Kolssak Funeral Home in Wheeling on Thursday, June 25. Interment was Friday, June 26 in Lakeview Cemetery, Quincy, Mich. She was the wife of the late John Pearce; mother of Sharon Pearce; sister of Esther (Bob) Spitzer and Clara (the late Jerry) LaReau and the late Ruth Hasler and Sarah (Don) Johnson. Sister-in-law of Lorraine Lewis and aunt of many.

Barbara L. Plant

Of Rolling Meadows

A funeral mass for Barbara L. Plant (nee Lake), 78, of Rolling Meadows, was celebrated June 30 in St. Colette Church. Interment was private. A native of Melrose Park, she died June 27 in her home.  Surviving are her husband, Donald; children Michelle Berg, Jean (John) Tyda, Peggy (Jeffrey) Livermore, Elizabeth (Gary) Poduch; and grandchildren Benjamin, Jevonne, Jonah, Cody, Julia, Emma, and Elsie Tyda; Daniel, Kelsey and Molly Livermore; Charlotte, Kelly, and Erica Poduch, and Michelle Plant. Arrangements were by Meadows Funeral Home.

Dolores H. Schleiter

Of Des Plaines

Dolores Helen Schleiter, 82, of Des Plaines, died on Wednesday, June 17. She was the wife of the late Edward; mother of Mary Kay, Janet (Larry) Clark, Marjorie (Lenny) Olszewski, Jim (Tina), Ed (Mindy), Patricia (Jeff) Battaglia, Barbara (Chris) Meyers and Karen (Mark) Schmidt; grandmother of Ben, Chris, Caryn, Tricia, Kristin, Tom, Nick, Alex, Lauren, Melanie, Brian, Tim, Philip, Andrea and Stephen and great-grandmother of 6.  Prayers were said Sunday, June 20 at G.L. Hills Funeral Home in Des Plaines followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, Des Plaines.

Stanislawa E. Serbinski

Of Arlington Hts.

A memorial service for Stanislawa E. "Emma" Serbinski, 89, was held on Thursday, June 25 at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home in Arlington Hts. Interment was in St. James Cemetery, Sewickley, Penn. She was born Apr. 30, 1920, in Kosow, Poland, and died Friday, June 19, at the Lutheran Home. She was the wife of the late Zdzislaw; mother of Andrew (Judith) Serbinski and Barbara (Alan) Sipe; grandmother of Christopher, Stephanie and Samantha.

Lila M. Sykes

Formerly Of Des Plaines

Lila M. Sykes, 86, of Washington, Ill., formerly of Des Plaines, died on Sunday, June 21, at her home. She was born on Apr. 4, in Chicago, to Mack and Augusta Becker Wilde. She married Robert P. Sykes on July 19, 1947. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Des Plaines, when she lived in the area.  Surviving are daughters, Bobby L. (Edward) Salm and Renee (Dave) Adams; her sister, Betty Ericson, and grandchildren, Russel and Andrew Salm and Tara and Troy Adams. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral service was Saturday, June 27, at Swan Lake Chapel at Ridgewood Cemetery. Interment followed. Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines handled arrangements. Deiters Funeral Home in Washington also assisted the family.

Peter P. Tashjian

Of Niles

A funeral service for Peter P. Tashjian, 86, of Niles, will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, July 1) at Armenian All Saints Apostolic Church. Visitation took place Tuesday, June 30, at the church. Interment will be at Ridgewood Cemetery.  Mr. Tashjian was born April 28, 1923 in Jordan. He worked as a foreman in a machine shop for many years. He passed away on Saturday, June 27 at Lutheran General Hospital. He is survived by wife Mary K., son James (Karrie), daughter Linda (Lloyd) Castleman, grandchildren Melissa, Tara, Lauren and Leah, sister Rose Markarian and many nieces and nephews.

Josephine Zanardo

Of Mt. Prospect

Josephine Zanardo, a Mt. Prospect resident since 1968, died on June 23, at Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge.She was born on May 31, 1921 in Chicago. She was the wife of the late Aldo Zanardo; mother of Scott (Marian) Zanardo and Valerie Zanardo; grandmother of Paul, Steven "Tony" and Jesseca Elena Zanardo; sister of Jacquelin Russo and Anthony M. (Phyllis) Rossi; sister-in-law of Ivo (Charline) Zanardo. Many nieces and nephews. Funeral mass took place at St. Raymond Church in Mt. Prospect. Interment at All Saints.
