Witness Helps Catch Thievery Suspects
Niles police charged four Chicago men with theft after they allegedly took several items from a parked car at 3:46 p.m. Jan. 18.
Police apprehended Esteban T. Alvarado, 45, of 3828 N. Osceola Ave., Jesse Delgado, 19, and Oscar Delgado, 29, both of 4882 N. Marmora Ave., and Freddy Rivas, 20, of 2333 N. Mango Ave., in the parking lot of Costco, 7311 Melvina Ave.
A witness called police to report the men taking items from a black Lincoln Navigator in the parking lot. The witness gave officers the license number of the men's vehicle and police located them in the same parking lot. Officers recovered a cellular telephone, sunglasses, an mp3 player, a Bluetooth device, and a stereo amplifier in the suspects' vehicle. The owner of the Navigator later identified the items as his property. In addition to the theft charge, Alvarado was also charged with criminal trespass to vehicle. Felony charges were not approved because the witness could not identify the suspects in a line-up, according to the police report.
