Niles Gears Up For First Korean Festival

The first Korean Fest is coming to Niles next week.

NIKABA (Northern Illinois Korean Business Association) will host the NIKABA 2009 Expo and Fest next to Golf Mill on Church Street on Saturday and Sunday, July 18-19. The event is free and open to the public.

NIKABA President Young Kim said the Niles event is an attempt to provide a festival in the suburbs as populations of immigrants outside Chicago have swelled over the last 10 to 20 years. The entertainment lineup is a mix of American rock, hip hop and jazz with traditional Korean dance and martial arts demonstrations. See next week's editions of the Journal & Topics Newspapers for a special section highlighting the event.
