Police Blotter

These items are from Niles Police Department incident reports. The Niles Journal publishes this police blotter every Wednesday.

DOMESTIC BATTERY CHARGED

Al D. Oliver, 45, of 9029 Grace Ave., Niles, was charged with domestic battery and possession of a firearm without a valid firearm owner's identification card. Police took him into custody at his home at 3:20 p.m. June 22.

Mike Karabatsis, 48, of 8844 N. Wisner Ave., Niles, was charged with domestic battery at an unreleased time on June 18. He was taken into custody at his home.

ASSAULT CHARGED

Juliana Bacus, 22, of 8914 N. LaCrosse Ave., Skokie, was charged with aggravated assault on June 22. She allegedly threatened a 38-year-old Niles woman with a baseball bat on April 20. The victim declined charges at the time, but Bacus allegedly made additional threats by telephone and on Facebook. The victim changed her mind about the charges and police picked Bacus up at her home.

ORDER VIOLATION CHARGED

Samaan Youkhana, 38, of 8739 N. Merrill Ave., Niles, was charged with violation of an order of protection at 2:20 p.m. June 21. He was taken into custody in the 8600 block of Shermer Road.

DUI CHARGES

Ruben Gonzalez-Ramirez, 29, of 8429 W. Dempster St., Niles, was charged with aggravated driving while under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, no valid driver's license, illegal transportation of alcohol, and failure to yield right of way while turning left. He was allegedly involved in a traffic crash in the 8400 block of Dempster Street at 9:02 p.m. June 21. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later recorded a .208 on a breath test. Open beer was allegedly recovered from inside his vehicle.

Alexandra Solomon, 19, of 3734 W. Columbia Ave., Lincolnwood, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, leaving the scene of an accident, no driver's license on person, and improper lane usage. At 12:15 a.m. June 21, she was allegedly involved in a traffic crash in the 9200 block of Milwaukee Avenue and fled the scene. The driver of the other vehicle followed Solomon and called police who stopped her in the 7600 block of Cleveland Avenue with assistance from a Morton Grove officer. Solomon allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later recorded a .230 on a breath test.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT CHARGED

Rocco J. Allegretti, 72, of 9666 Golf Terrace, Des Plaines, was charged with disorderly conduct at noon June 23. While at a store in the 8500 block of Golf Road, he allegedly walked by a 21-year-old woman, purposely touching her as he passed. He was also instructed not to return to the store.

ALCOHOL CHARGE

Gustavo J. Aguilera, 28, of 1219 E. Washington St., Des Plaines, was charged with public intoxication and cost of emergency services at 4:49 a.m. June 26. Police found him asleep on top of a parked car in the 9000 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

RETAIL THEFT CHARGED

Erica R. Pinelo, 20, of 4123 N. Bell Ave., Chicago, was charged with retail theft at Wal-Mart, 5630 Touhy Ave. She was taken into custody at 2:10 p.m. June 24 after she allegedly tried to leave without paying for four pieces of clothing valued at a total of $81.40.

Carlos Veintimilla, 22, of 3424 N. Hamlin Ave., Chicago, was charged with retail theft at 5:21 p.m. June 24. He was apprehended at J.C. Penney in Golf Mill Mall after he allegedly tried to leave without paying for a bottle of cologne valued at $69.

Diana E. Manolis, 40, of 5343 N. Newcastle Ave., Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft at Sears Roebuck & Co. in Golf Mill Mall. She was taken into custody at 5:38 p.m. June 20 after she allegedly tried to leave without paying for five pairs of shoes, six t-shirts, a Bulls jersey, and three pajama pants valued at a total of $466.96.

Kathryn Kanies, 51, of 6709 W. Palatine Ave., Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft at 8:15 p.m. June 20. She was apprehended at Wal-Mart, 5630 Touhy Ave. after she allegedly tried to leave without paying for a bottle of champagne, a bottle of wine, and 10 pairs of socks valued at a total of $31.44.

Robert G. Pappas, 20, of 4300 Lake Ave., Glenview, was charged with petite theft at 3:07 p.m. June 25. He was stopped at Kohl's Department Store in Golf Mill Mall after he allegedly tried to leave without paying for a pair of shoes valued at $75.

A 16-year-old Des Plaines girl was charged with petite theft at Wal-Mart, 8500 Golf Rd., at 8:40 p.m. June 24. She allegedly tried to leave without paying for makeup valued at $11.92.

Roberto Hernandez-Bautista, 32, of 386 Inland Drive, Wheeling, was charged with retail theft at Kohl's Department Store in Golf Mill Mall. He was stopped at 5:43 p.m. June 21 after he allegedly tried to leave without paying for an mp3 player valued at $69.99.

Gianluca Dimaggio, 31, of 4554 N. Anthon Ave., Chicago, was charged with petite theft at 9:30 a.m. June 21. He was stopped at Home Depot, 901 Civic Center Drive after he allegedly tried to leave without paying for concrete cleaner, sealer, stain, and a trowel valued at a total of $67.18.

DRIVING CHARGES

David Maqueda-Sanchez, 20, of 2305 N. Mango Ave., Chicago, was charged with no valid driver's license, no proof of insurance, and no taillights. Police pulled him over in the 7600 block of Main Street at 2 a.m. June 24 for the alleged lighting violation.

Miguel Lopez, 28, of 8801 Washington St., Niles, was charged with no valid driver's license, disobeying a traffic control device, and speeding. He was stopped at 10 a.m. June 21 for allegedly driving at 51 mph in a 35 mph zone on Dempster Street near Prospect Avenue.

Sergio I. Alvarez, 20, of 815 E. Oakton St., Des Plaines, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license, illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, and speeding. Police stopped him in the 8900 block of Milwaukee Avenue at 1:05 a.m. June 20 for allegedly driving at 48 mph in a 35 mph zone. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later refused a breath test, although a portable test unit at the scene recorded a blood alcohol level of .052.

Angie Choo, 22, of 7725 N. Nordica Ave., Niles, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license, no proof of insurance, and speeding at 3:16 p.m. June 20. She was stopped in the 6600 block of Howard Street for allegedly driving at 46 mph in a 30 mph zone.

Jaime V. Martinez, 24, of 326 W. Bohland Ave., Bellwood, was charged with no valid driver's license and speeding. Police stopped him at Harlem Avenue and Dempster Street at 7:43 a.m. June 20 for allegedly driving at 50 mph in a 35 mph zone.
