Traveling With Trebek
Niles Resident Wins National Contest To Cruise With Jeopardy!
Jeopardy!'s huge popularity now extends all the way to the Galapagos Islands, just ask Barbara Ursula Groshon of Niles.
The game show's producers are sponsoring a national sweepstakes contest as an added attraction to its weekly quiz show on CBS Television. Groshon, a financial advisor, is one of the 25 national winners.
She will embark on an exclusive cruise with Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek for an exotic trip this fall to the Galapagos Islands, the "Land of Darwin." The winners and their guests will travel aboard the National Geographic vessel Endeavour Oct. 16-25, touring one of the most scientifically important and biologically interesting areas on Earth.
Groshon is one of more than 350,000 viewers who entered the sweepstakes for a chance to sail on this cruise.
Viewers were able to enter each day between Mar. 30 and May 1 by watching Jeopardy! and submitting the correct Final Jeopardy! category online. More than 2.2 million entries were cast.
The cruise is part of this year's celebration of Jeopardy!'s 25th anniversary.
Jeopardy! has won 28 Emmy awards since its debut in 1984, and was inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records for the most awards won by a TV game show. It is the number-one rated quiz show in syndication with more than 10 million daily viewers.
