Schools Forming Strategic Plan Action Teams
By DWIGHT ESAU Journal & Topics Reporter
Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 has been mining the community for volunteer strategic planning talent this year, and now they are looking for more.
With a draft outline of a vision, objectives and a mission statement in place, the district is now recruiting five action teams of 15-20 members each. They will develop specific game plans this fall on how to transform the vision into reality.
Starting in October, the teams will spend four months developing action plans in these five areas:
* Accelerating the advanced use of technology.
* Building a model for personal student goals.
* Collaborating within their partnership.
* Defining expectations for student learning and instructional practices.
* Providing support and tools for change.
The draft action plans will be presented and reviewed by the original 30-member educator-citizen Strategic Planning group that drafted the original vision this past April. The action plans will be fine tuned for implementation in the 2010-11 school year.
The board of education is tentawork of the action teams. PTO presidents at all schools will be asked to inform parents this Fall and solicit their participation on the teams. Additional information will be included in the 2009-10 district student-parent handbook and in the take-homes this fall.
An on-line action team volunteer form is available on the district's website (www.d64.com) for use by interested volunteers.
