Police Blotter

These items are from Niles Police Department incident reports. The Niles Journal publishes this police blotter every Wednesday.

HARASSMENT CHARGED

Angel T. Ruiz, 34, of 7715 Patterson Ave., Chicago, was charged with harassment through electronic communication at 7:45 a.m. Mar. 27. He allegedly sent threatening text messages to a 34-year-old Niles woman, police said. Officers located him at Howard Street and Lehigh Avenue and recovered the cellular telephone from which he allegedly sent the messages.

BATTERY CHARGED

Nataliya Hrynchak, 39, of 8806 Briar Court, Des Plaines, was charged with two counts of battery. On Mar. 13, she allegedly threw hot water on two co-workers at Niles Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, burning them. She was charged during questioning at the police department on Mar. 29.

DRUG CHARGES

Christian L. Walker, 30, of 1333 Mesa Drive, Joliet, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a hypodermic syringe. Police stopped him at 6:27 a.m. Apr. 2 in a parking lot in the 8200 block of West Golf Road. Walker was allegedly driving erratically and the officer stopped him for investigation. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests but recorded a .000 on a portable breath test. During a search, police allegedly recovered two glass pipes and three hypodermic syringes from his vehicle. He later refused chemical testing.

Darius A. Shams, 23, of 7420 Camale Drive, Pensacola, Fla., was charged with possession of cannabis, driving while under the influence of alcohol, and speeding. Police pulled him over at 1:34 a.m. Apr. 2 for allegedly driving at 53 mph in a 35 mph zone in the 8700 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later refused a breath test. Police allegedly recovered a suspected marijuana cigarette from the ashtray of his vehicle.

Ahmed Y. Yahya, 27, of 2630 W. Winnemac Ave., Chicago, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, no valid driver's license, no proof of insurance, and obstructed front windows. Police stopped him at 5:50 p.m. Mar. 25 in the 9200 block of Milwaukee Avenue for allegedly having tinted front windows. A glass pipe was allegedly recovered from his vehicle.

DUI CHARGES

Kazimierz Kujawski, 58, of 5940 N. Odell Ave., Chicago, was charged with aggravated driving while under the influence of alcohol, aggravated driving with a revoked driver's license, no proof of insurance, failure to give information or aid, disorderly conduct, and cost of emergency services. At an unreleased time on Apr. 1, he allegedly struck a vehicle on Harlem Avenue and continued driving. Police located him nearby where he had allegedly parked his vehicle in a lane of Harlem and walked up to a building. When officers found him, he was allegedly urinating on the building. He allegedly had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, but refused all field sobriety and breath testing. After being taken to the police station, he complained about pain around his heart and was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment.

Jose R. Patino, 44, of 8662 Gregory Lane, Des Plaines, was charged with aggravated driving while under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, no valid driver's license, and improper lane usage. Police stopped him at 3:31 a.m. Apr. 1 in the 9100 block of Milwaukee Avenue for allegedly crossing the centerline several times. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later recorded a .125 on a breath test.

Michael D. Reardon, 24, of 6750 N. Wildwood Ave., Chicago, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, no driver's license on person, and improper lane usage. An officer stopped him at 1:25 a.m. Mar. 28 for allegedly weaving between lanes in the 6700 block of Caldwell Avenue. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later refused a breath test.

Gerardo Tirado, 24, of 2760 Cass St., Lake Station, Ind., was charged with two counts of aggravated driving while under the influence of alcohol, one for no valid driver's license and one for no proof of insurance; driving with a revoked driver's license, no proof of insurance, improper use of registration, and no seat belt. Police took him into custody after a traffic crash at 10:45 p.m. Mar. 27 at Golf Road and Western Avenue. He allegedly refused both field sobriety and breath tests.

RETAIL THEFT CHARGED

Deborah A. Partyka, 45, of 5105 N. Nordica Ave., Chicago, was charged with retail theft at Wal-Mart, 5630 Touhy Ave. She was taken into custody at 11:45 a.m. Mar. 29 after she allegedly tried to leave without paying for socks and underwear valued at $7.50.

A 15-year-old Des Plaines girl and a 13-year-old Des Plaines girl were charged with petite theft at Shop N Save in Golf Mill Mall. They were taken into custody at 2 p.m. Mar. 26 after they allegedly tried to leave without paying for candy valued at $10.
