BATTERY

CHARGED

Luis E. Aguilar, 27, of 8293 W. Elizabeth St., Niles, was charged with battery at 8:53 p.m. May 4. He allegedly struck a man in the head with a beer bottle and punched him in the head several times during an altercation in the 8200 block of Elizabeth Avenue.

THEFT

CHARGED

Nancy Lucio, 35, of 529 Fifth St., Northfield, was charged with felony theft at 2:44 p.m. May 6. While employed at Target in Golf Mill Mall, she allegedly took $1,948 from her cash register between Jan. 19 and May 5. Surveillance videos from the store documented the alleged thefts, according to the police report.

DRUG

CHARGES

Michal Rzepny, 29, of 9822 Bianco Terrace, Des Plaines, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a revoked driver's license, and obstructed view. Police pulled him over on Milwaukee Avenue near Mulford Street at 2:27 p.m. May 3 for allegedly having an object hanging from his rearview mirror. During a search, officers allegedly recovered a glass pipe from his vehicle.

Gary Salerno, 50, of 7409 N. Osceola Ave., Chicago, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Police located him at an unreleased time on May 2, in the parking lot of Wendy's Restaurant, 7243 Harlem Ave. He allegedly struck the building with his car, according to the police report. Salerno allegedly failed field sobriety tests but later recorded a .000 on a breath test. He allegedly refused blood or urine testing.

DUI

CHARGES

Whan Huh, 28, of 575 W. Madison St., Chicago, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, failure to signal, and two counts of speeding. At 4:06 a.m. May 6, an officer clocked him allegedly driving at 51 mph in a 35 mph zone on Milwaukee Avenue near Waukegan Road. He turned onto Touhy Avenue, allegedly weaved between lanes, changed lanes without signaling, and drove at 57 mph in a 35 mph zone. Police stopped him at Touhy and Lehigh Avenue. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later recorded a .078 on a breath test.

Karol Madej, 27, of 1416 Carol St., Park Ridge, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and speeding. Police stopped him near Dempster Street and Carol Avenue for allegedly driving at 50 mph in a 35 mph zone at 1:43 a.m. May 4. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later refused a breath test.

Anthony Moctezuma, 32, of 2929 N. Marmora Ave., Chicago, was charged with aggravated driving while under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, no valid driver's license, and improper lane usage. Police pulled him over in the 7200 block of Milwaukee Avenue at 3:22 a.m. May 3 for allegedly weaving between lanes. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later recorded a .150 on a breath test.

David Nejad, 20, of 7820 N. Neva Ave., Niles, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor at 3:56 a.m. May 3. He allegedly drove to the Niles Police Dept. to complain about a cab ride from Chicago. After determining he allegedly came to the station alone and was not dropped off, police took him into custody.

RETAIL THEFT

CHARGED

Noel Cintron, 42, of 4516 N. LaPorte Ave., Chicago, was charged with two counts of retail theft at Sears Roebuck & Co. in Golf Mill Mall. He allegedly came to the store at 9:30 a.m. May 7, selected clothing off a rack, and brought it to a sales counter with an old receipt, claiming he was returning the merchandise. He received a store credit and allegedly used it to take more clothing from the store. Employees did not stop him at that time, but his alleged actions were captured on video surveillance tapes. He returned to the store at 7:15 p.m. and allegedly attempted a similar maneuver at which time he was apprehended.

Cecilia I. Mariano, 33, of 9510 Elquito Lane, St. Louis, Mo., was charged with felony retail theft at 4:45 p.m. May 6. She was stopped at Kohl's Department Store in Golf Mill Mall after she allegedly tried to leave without paying for clothing valued at a total of $206.47.

Verdell M. Warren, 21, of 10422 Michael Todd Terrace, Glenview, was charged with felony retail theft at J.C. Penney in Golf Mill Mall. She was stopped at 3:09 p.m. May 4 after she allegedly tried to leave without paying for clothing and perfume valued at a total of $173.

Guillermina Marroquin, 43, of 9458 Kelvin Lane, Schiller Park, was charged with felony retail theft at 5:11 p.m. May 3. She was stopped at J.C. Penney in Golf Mill Mall after she allegedly tried to leave without paying for clothing and jewelry valued at a total of $319.60.

Fahima Ahmadi, 21, of 2335 W. Touhy Ave., Chicago, was charged with retail theft at Sears Roebuck & Co. in Golf Mill Mall at 2:07 p.m. May 3. Police took her into custody after she allegedly tried to leave without paying for clothing valued at $142.49.

Mai Nguyen, 46, of 3103 N. George St., Franklin Park, was charged with felony retail theft at 7:40 p.m. May 2. She was stopped at Sears Roebuck & Co. in Golf Mill Mall after she allegedly tried to leave without paying for shoes and jewelry valued at a total of $182.57.

Maria Loma, 30, and Richard Loma, 36, both of 1636 W. Olive St., Chicago, were charged with retail theft at Sears Roebuck & Co. in Golf Mill Mall. They were stopped at 4:11 p.m. May 3 after they allegedly tried to leave without paying for bed sheets.

Santos Herrera, 44, of 1728 N. Francisco Ave., Chicago, was charged with retail theft at Wal-Mart, 5630 Touhy Ave. At 8:15 p.m. May 3, he allegedly tried to leave without paying for DVDs and CDs valued at a total of $129.18.

DRIVING

CHARGES

Neeneev S. Youkhana, 20, of 8014 N. Tripp St., Skokie, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license and improper lane usage at 1:15 a.m. May 8. She was stopped in the 9500 block of Milwaukee Avenue for allegedly weaving between lanes.

Gregorio Cisneros, 32, of 8034 W. Lyons St., Niles, was charged with no valid driver's license and obstructed view at 9:56 a.m. May 6. Police stopped him in the 7800 block of Dempster Street for allegedly having an object hanging from his rearview mirror.

Margarito Sandoval, 39, of 608 Deerfield Drive, Streamwood, was charged with no valid driver's license at 9:34 a.m. May 5. He was allegedly involved in a traffic accident at Golf Road and Milwaukee Avenue.

Ahmad Jarad, 21, of 7901 W. Crain St., Niles, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident at 9:08 p.m. May 3. He was allegedly involved in a traffic accident in the 8800 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

Ricardo Hernandez, 20, of 2332 N. Mason Ave., Chicago, was charged with no valid driver's license and following too closely after a traffic accident at Milwaukee Avenue and Waukegan Road. He was taken into custody at an unreleased time on May 3.

Theresa A. Jenkins, 37, of 4848 W. Augusta Blvd., Chicago, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license and obstructed view at 1 p.m. May 2. Police stopped her in the 7500 block of Oak Park Avenue for allegedly having an object hanging from her rearview mirror.

WALLET

SWIPED

Someone took a wallet from an unattended shopping cart at Big Lots, 7215 Dempster St. between 3:50 and 4 p.m. May 7. An 18-year-old Evanston woman told police the wallet contained two driver's licenses, a state ID, a Social Security card, credit cards, and $15 cash.

CASH

GRABBED

A 20-year-old Chicago woman reported the theft of $500 by a man purporting to sell her a computer. She overheard the man talking on a cellular telephone inside Circuit City, 5701 Touhy Ave., about trying to sell computers for $500. She approached him at 7:45 p.m. May 2 and asked if she could buy one and he agreed to meet her behind the store. When they met, she handed him $500 cash and he ran from the scene and escaped.

WARRANT

APPREHENSION

Matthew J. Smiley, 30, of 126 S. Prospect Ave., Bartlett, was served an outstanding warrant from DuPage County for retail theft. Police took him into custody at 1:10 a.m. May 6 in the 8200 block of Odell Avenue while investigating a suspicious vehicle.

VAN

SCRATCHED

Someone keyed a minivan in the parking lot of Costco, 7311 N. Melvina Ave., between 4 and 5 p.m. Apr. 28.
