BATTERIES

CHARGED

Jong C. Yom, 44, of 660 Mill Circle, Wheeling, was charged with battery after an alleged incident at Twin Dragon Restaurant, 9046 Golf Rd. On Apr. 4, Yom allegedly broke two glasses inside the bar during an argument with another man. The two men walked towards the door of the restaurant and Yom allegedly pushed the victim into a wall, knocking him to the floor. The victim went to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge where he was diagnosed with a broken shoulder, according to the police report. The victim reported the incident to police the next day and Yom turned himself in to officers on Apr. 28.

Wallid Awshana, 23, of 7869 Nordica Ave., Niles, was charged with battery at Chaser's, 9003 Milwaukee Ave. at 3:26 a.m. Apr. 26. He allegedly punched a 34-year-old employee of the business in the face during a disturbance at the business.

DISORDERLY

CONDUCT

Jan Kuc, 47, of 8355 W. Harrison St., Niles, was charged with disorderly conduct for making a false 911 call and three counts of cost of emergency services. He allegedly called 911 two times on Apr. 27, once at 5:17 p.m. and the other at 8:31 p.m. He was cited for the service violation on each occasion, police said. He allegedly again called 911 at 9:34 p.m. Apr. 29 and asked why his family members were not at home. Officers again responded to his home and placed the other two charges against him. Kuc was allegedly intoxicated during each incident, police said.

THEFTS

CHARGED

Joaneshea M. Cartharn, 20, of 1218 W. Taylor St., Chicago, was charged with felony theft by deception at Target, 6150 W. Touhy Ave. On 1:40 p.m. Apr. 24, she allegedly used receipts left by customers of the store to create fictitious returns. She allegedly received gift cards totaling $494.79 from the fake returns before being stopped by security personnel of the store.

Christopher G. Reaves, 24, of 2721 W. Devon Ave., Chicago, was charged with theft and retail theft at Gamestop Game Center, 5695 Touhy Ave. While working at the store, he allegedly processed a fictitious return valued at $38.14 and took a video game valued at $17.99 without paying for it. He was taken into custody at 3:53 p.m. Apr. 24.

TRESPASS

CHARGED

Cosmin G. Curt, 33, of 5151 N. LaCrosse Ave., Chicago, was charged with criminal trespass to land at 12:39 p.m. Apr. 25. An

employee of Costco, 7311 N. Melvina Ave., saw him allegedly shopping in the store. Curt was allegedly warned on Jan. 23 that he was no longer allowed in the business and the employee contacted police who took him into custody.

DRUG

CHARGES

Erik J. Flynn, 26, of 4009 W. Waveland Ave., Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while under the influence of alcohol, no proof of insurance, expired driver's license, and speeding. Police stopped him at 4:02 a.m. Apr. 25 in the 7600 block of Milwaukee Avenue for allegedly driving at 52 mph in a 35 mph zone. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later refused a breath test. During a search, police allegedly recovered a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana from his pocket and two glass pipes from the vehicle.

Christopher P. Fernandez, 19, of 8326 Oconto Ave., Niles, was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia; Steve M. Yasell, 19, of 8141 Odell Ave., Niles, was charged with possession of cannabis. Police found them allegedly sitting in a van in the 8300 block of Oconto Avenue at 12:16 a.m. Apr. 25 while investigating a report of suspicious subjects. Police allegedly recovered a plastic egg containing suspected marijuana and a glass pipe.

DUI

CHARGES

Uros Ugrinovic, 19, of 9001 W. Golf Rd., Des Plaines, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, and speeding at 2:06 a.m. Apr. 28. Police stopped him in the 8000 block of Milwaukee Avenue for allegedly driving at 56 mph in a 35 mph zone. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later recorded a .202 on a breath test.

Lubomir V. Velkov, 55, of 6175 N. Northwest Highway, Chicago, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, and improper lane usage. An officer pulled him over at Harlem and Pratt avenues at 1:44 a.m. Apr. 28 for allegedly weaving across the centerline. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later recorded a .155 on a breath test.

Won K. Lee, 39, of 2742 W. Summit Drive, Glenview, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and speeding at 1:29 a.m. Apr. 26. Police stopped him in the 7600 block of Milwaukee Avenue for allegedly driving at 64 mph in a 35 mph zone. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later refused a breath test.

ALCOHOL

CHARGE

Patrick L. Lundin, 24, of 5423 N. Neva Ave., Chicago, was charged with public intoxication and cost of emergency services at 4:48 a.m. Apr. 27. A Niles man had Lundin in his vehicle and was trying to take him home but did not know where he lived and Lundin allegedly passed out in his passenger seat. The citizen brought him to the police station where officers removed him from the car and tried to take him home. Police could not contact his family and Lundin allegedly passed out again in the lobby of the police station. He was taken to Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago for treatment and given the citations.

RETAIL THEFT

CHARGED

Anicka M. Downing, 19, of 9078 Emerson St., Des Plaines, was charged with retail theft at 2:20 p.m. May 1. She was stopped at Target in Golf Mill Mall after she allegedly tried to leave without paying for clothing, a drink, and a beef stick valued at a total of $29.68.

Trang Q. Nguyen, 30, of 1216 S. 59th Ave., Cicero, was charged with retail theft at Costco, 7311 N. Melvina Ave. She was stopped at 1:15 p.m. Apr. 30 after she allegedly tried to leave without paying for three digital cameras valued at a total of $949.97.

Donald M. Lewis, 63, of 24 E. Congress Parkway, Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft at 8:30 p.m. Apr. 28. Police stopped him at Sears Roebuck & Co. in Golf Mill Mall after he allegedly tried to leave without paying for clothing valued at $268.95. Lewis is currently on parole from the Ill. Dept. of Corrections, according to the police report.

Vandeanna L. Harris, 44, of 5300 S. Wolcott Ave., Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft at Sears Roebuck & Co. in Golf Mill Mall. At 4:41 p.m. Apr. 27, she allegedly tried to leave without paying for clothing valued at a total of $1,237.56.

Bhartiben V. Modi, 55, of 365 Dover Lane, Des Plaines, was charged with retail theft at 3:21 p.m. Apr. 25. She was stopped at Sears Roebuck & Co. in Golf Mill Mall after she allegedly tried to leave without paying for jewelry valued at a total of $142.92.

Patricia A. Beaman, 55, of 1583 Campbell Ave., Des Plaines, was charged with retail theft at J.C. Penney in Golf Mill Mall at 6:30 p.m. Apr. 29. She allegedly tried to leave without paying for three packages of pillowcases valued at a total of $79.

Feroz G. Baluch, 34, of 4806 N. Springfield Ave., Chicago, was charged with retail theft at Sears Roebuck & Co. in Golf Mill Mall. He was stopped at 12:15 p.m. Apr. 27 after he allegedly tried to leave without paying for clothing valued at a total of $88.

Rita J. Mall, 39, of 4800 Carol St., Skokie, was charged with retail theft at 5:30 p.m. Apr. 26. She was stopped at J.C. Penney in Golf Mill Mall after she allegedly tried to leave without paying for cologne valued at $110.

Mariana Medina, 34, of 2821 N. Major St., Chicago, was charged with retail theft at J.C. Penney in Golf Mill Mall at 2:05 p.m. Apr. 26. She allegedly tried to leave without paying for two pairs of earrings valued at a total of $62.

DRIVING

CHARGES

Ryan N. Brkljacic, 22, of 7001 N. Keating Ave., Lincolnwood, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license, no proof of insurance, and speeding. An officer pulled him over at 1:49 a.m. May 2 in the 9100 block of Milwaukee Avenue for allegedly driving at 53 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Peter Miller, 20, of 8213 N. Milwaukee Ave., Niles, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license at 3:15 p.m. May 1. Police stopped him as he was allegedly leaving the scene of a dispute in the 6900 block of West Oakton Street. There were no charges filed in connection to the alleged dispute, according to the police report.

Narciso Jimenez-Roman, 23, of 3969 S. Archer Ave., Chicago, was charged with no valid driver's license and obstructed view at 4:22 p.m. Apr. 30. An officer pulled him over in the 7400 block of Caldwell Avenue for allegedly having an object hanging from his rearview mirror.

Ray Penzola, 75, of 360 Ambleside Drive, Des Plaines, was charged with no valid driver's license, no proof of insurance, and only one red taillight. Police stopped him at Oakton Street and Merrill Avenue at an unreleased time on May 1 for the alleged lighting violation.

Jason A. Popko, 25, of 545 W. Pulaski Ave., Flint, Mich., was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license and speeding at 9:55 p.m. Apr. 29. He was stopped on Milwaukee Avenue at Main Street for allegedly driving at 52 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Isaias Mancilla, 21, of 7445 N. California Ave., Chicago, was charged with no valid driver's license and speeding at an unreleased time on Apr. 25. Police pulled him over in the 6600 block of Howard Street for allegedly driving at 46 mph in a 30 mph zone.

BURGLARIES

AND THEFTS

Someone took a purse from a shopping cart of a 43-year-old Glenview woman at Greenwood Fruit Market, 8716 Golf Rd. The theft occurred between 10:20 and 10:30 a.m. Apr. 26. The purse contained a driver's license, credit cards, jewelry, and keys.

A wallet containing a driver's license, credit cards, a checkbook, and a Social Security card was taken from a shopper's purse at Wal-Mart, 5630 Touhy Ave. The theft occurred while the 66-year-old Chicago woman was shopping between 2:15 and 2:30 p.m. Apr. 26.

A CD player, three CDs, perfume, and a cellular telephone charger were taken from a car in the 8100 block of Ozark Avenue. The burglary occurred between 6 p.m. Apr. 24 and 9:40 a.m. Apr. 25.

Someone took a bicycle from outside Jewel Food Store, 8730 Dempster St., between 9:10 and 9:40 p.m. Apr. 25.

VANDALISM

REPORTS

Nine glass blocks were broken on a building at St. Adalbert Cemetery, 6800 Milwaukee Ave., between 5 p.m. Apr. 27 and 7 a.m. Apr. 28.

A window was broken on a business in the 8800 block of Milwaukee Avenue between midnight and 5 a.m. Apr. 27.

Someone punctured a tire on an SUV in the 8800 block of Prospect Avenue between 10 p.m. Apr. 25 and 6 a.m. Apr. 26.
