Two Incidents Of Parking Lot Battery

The following records were taken from the files of the Niles Police Dept. The Niles Journal publishes its "Police Blotter" every Wednesday:

BATTERY CHARGES

Philemon N. Garcia, 30, of 1873 Illinois St., Des Plaines, was arrested Thursday, Oct. 27 and charged with battery after he allegedly beat a man in the parking lot on the 8600 block of Dempster Street following an altercation that was reported at a nearby bar.

Ricardo L. Coates, 44, of 2993 W. Curtis St., Des Plaines, was arrested Tuesday, Oct. 25 and charged with battery after he allegedly slapped a woman in the face and pushed her to the ground in a parking lot on the 8900 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

DUI CHARGES, ETC.

Aram Saakyan, 32, of 584 Fairway View, Wheeling, was arrested Saturday, Oct. 29 and charged with driving under the influence (DUI). Police also charged him with criminal trespass to vehicle after police learned the car he had been driving had been reported stolen out of Park Ridge. Olga Grigoryeva, 24, of the same address, was a passenger in the vehicle and was also charged with criminal trespass to vehicle. Both suspects denied that car was stolen and said that the car had been paid for, reports indicated.

Olga A. Nikolov, 58, of 9843 Lauren Ln., was arrested Sunday, Oct. 30 and charged with DUI on the 8600 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

Edward J. Stomper, 21, of 8933 Heathwood, was arrested Saturday, Oct. 22 and charged with DUI on the 9100 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

Wojciech Marczyk, 31, of 2309 77th Ave., Elmwood Park, was arrested Monday, Oct. 31 and charged with DUI at Harlem and Birchwood avenues.

Nikolai Mizyniouk, 30, of 1310 N. Springfield Ave., Chicago, was arrested Sunday, Oct. 30 and charged with DUI on the 9300 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

Dariusz Tajanko, 29, of 3138 Bellwood Ave., Glenview, was arrested Saturday, Oct. 29 and charged with DUI at Milwaukee and Greenleaf avenues.

PURSE THEFT

Cordell Baldwin, 19, of 5216 S. Winchester Ave., Chicago, was arrested 3:33 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 and charged with disorderly conduct after he allegedly stole a 45-year-old woman's purse while she was getting her a pedicure inside a Golf Mill Mall nail salon. The woman reportedly chased after Cordell barefoot until he ran outside, where a witness chased him down and detained him until police arrived. The woman's purse was retrieved. Though she declined to press charges for theft, police ended up charging Baldwin with disorderly conduct.

RETAIL THEFT

Five incidents of retail theft were reported throughout Niles between Thursday, Oct. 27 and Sunday, Oct. 30, resulting in charges against five individuals. The total value of the stolen merchandise was estimated at $268.

RECKLESS DRIVING

A 17-year-old Niles resident was charged with reckless driving, speeding, no insurance and other violations after police said he was driving 76 m.p.h. in a 35 m.p.h. zone on one wheel while heading northbound on Harlem Avenue at Oakton Street 4:10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29.

WALLET STOLEN

An 80-year-old woman told police her wallet was stolen when she bumped into a man at Jewel, 5667 W. Touhy Ave., around 2:20 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28. The wallet was said to contain $7 and three credit cards, among other items.

CAR BURGLARY

A radar detector was stolen from a Ford Mustang while the car was parked on the 6900 block of Rosemary Lane sometime between 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 and 6:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, police said. One of the car's doors had reportedly been damaged during the theft.

DUMPSTER FIRE

The contents of a dumpster in a shopping center on the 7200 block of Dempster Street were found to be aflame around 1:58 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, police said. The Niles Fire Dept. extinguished the flames. The cause of the fire is unknown, authorities reported.

DECORATIONS DAMAGED

Halloween decorations were vandalized at two homes on the 6900 block of Lexington Lane between 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 and 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, police said.
