A Niles man charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and aggravated battery could be linked to an abandoned car that was struck by an early morning Metra train on Monday in Des Plaines.

Kenneth J. Cooper, 19, of 8945 Washington, remained behind bars Friday after two bonds were set at a combined $125,000 Thursday for charges that include possession of a stolen car and aggravated battery to a peace officer.
