Increasing real estate taxes and the inability to utilize property it owns near the downtown area has forced the owner of a 66-year-old local company to close its business in Des Plaines at the end of October.

Schwake Stone will close its facility at 1313 Rand Rd. at the end of this month and consolidate its operations in Mundelein where it has also been in business since 2008.
