Proposals being developed by a Chicago-area planning agency could shape everything from how residents use the Des Plaines River to creating more affordable housing.

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) announced last week 48 projects in the region — including several in the Northwest suburbs — as part of their Go TO 2040 comprehensive regional plan. The agency is working with many local municipalities to develop the projects and is offering others a planning blueprint to meet the future needs of their community.
