Show Choirs Converge On Hersey This Weekend

Over 20 high schools and middle schools from four states will converge at John Hersey High School in Arlington Hts. on Friday and Saturday, Mar. 5-6, to compete in the 17th annual Chicagoland Showcase show choir competition.

Beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, the middle schools will take the spotlight, and then on Saturday, some of the "most talented" show choirs in the country will take center stage.

On Saturday, the Unisex Division will kick off at 8 a.m., followed by the Festival division at 11 a.m. Starting at 1:15 p.m., schools from Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin and some from the Chicagoland area will compete in the final round of the Open Division and be named Chicagoland Showcase Grand Champion. The six best performances from the Open Division will compete head-to-head in this final round, which will begin at 7:30 p.m.

This year's showcase will also be a first for Dist. 214 schools. Never before have show choirs from all six schools performed on the same stage at a single event.

This year, nine show choirs from the six district schools will either compete or participate in the event.
