Taxi Driver Allegedly Battered In Driveway

These items are from Mt. Prospect Police Department incident reports. The Mt. Prospect Journal publishes this police blotter every Wednesday and Friday.

BATTERY CHARGED

Victor E. Commean, 35, of 111 Audrey Lane, Mt. Prospect, was charged with battery at 1:30 a.m. Jan. 23. A cab driver told police he dropped off a fare at a neighboring home and was turning his cab around in Commean's driveway when the suspect walked up to his taxi. Commean allegedly yelled at the driver, then threw a plastic cup containing an alcoholic beverage through the window, striking the driver. Officers took Commean into custody at his home.

DRAG RACING CHARGED

Panthesh Patel, 20, of 8664 Gregory Lane Unit E, Des Plaines, and an 18-year-old Des Plaines man were charged with drag racing at 10:20 p.m. Jan. 31. An officer clocked the 18-year-old allegedly driving at 82 mph in a 40 mph zone on Golf Road near Lancaster Avenue. Patel was about 200 feet behind the younger man and attempting to close the gap, police said. Due to the radar unit locking on the first car, officers were unable to ascertain Patel's speed. Police stopped the 18-year-old in a parking lot just east of Elmhurst Road after he stopped for a red light. Patel stopped in the same parking lot and was also taken into custody. The 18-year-old was also charged with speeding.

THEFT CHARGED

Police had been looking for her since Nov. 26 when she allegedly took $100 and a credit card from the purse of a family friend, using the card to charge about $238 in merchandise. She was taken into custody by Bensenville officers and turned over to Mt. Prospect police. Dickens allegedly confessed to the alleged thefts.

DUI CHARGES

Francisco J. Carteno-Beltran, 25, of 225 Arlene Court Unit B, Wheeling, was charged with aggravated driving while under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended driver's license, failure to signal, and improper lane usage. At 10:22 p.m. Jan. 18, an officer saw him driving on Busse Road near Algonquin Road when he allegedly swerved out of his lane, crossed the median, and returned. He allegedly signaled for a turn, did not make one, and then made a sudden u-turn on Busse. He then allegedly signaled a left turn, swerved into the right lane without signaling, then turned onto Mansard Lane. As police tried to explain field sobriety tests to him, he allegedly suddenly told the officer he would no longer speak English. A Spanish-speaking officer explained the tests and Carteno-Beltran then allegedly refused to perform the tests. He later refused a breath test as well.

ALCOHOL CHARGES

Dionicio Pot, 55, of 1117 E. Algonquin Rd. #8A, Mt. Prospect, was charged with consumption of alcohol on park property at 8:45 p.m. Jan. 30. Police located him allegedly drinking beer in Highline Park in the 1700 block of West Dempster Street.

His license was allegedly revoked for two prior convictions for driving while under the influence of alcohol and he had three prior convictions for driving while suspended or revoked.
