Prospect To Begin Relay For Life Celebration Feb. 2

The kick-off celebration for the 2010 Relay for Life of Mt. Prospect/Prospect Hts. will be held Tuesday, Feb. 2, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Prospect High School community rooms.

Interested community members are encouraged to attend the planning meeting, as well as the actual event, held this spring. Relay for Life is the signature fundraiser of the American Cancer Society.

This year's event will be conducted on Friday and Saturday, May 21-22, in the Prospect High School stadium. From 6 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Saturday, teams of 10-15 individuals will walk laps around the Prospect track in celebration of those who have survived cancer and in memory of those who have lost their battle.

There will be entertainment, concessions, and several solemn ceremonies throughout the night.

The kick-off on Feb. 2 is a chance to obtain more information about the event, sign-up a team, meet the committee members, purchase luminaries, sign-up as a cancer survivor, or learn more about donating items for the raffle or becoming an event sponsor.
