Man Tasered In Police Station
A Mt. Prospect man was charged with aggravated assault for allegedly threatening to strike a police officer while already in custody.
James L. Dietrich, 42, of 120 Bonnie Brae Ave., was in the Des Plaines police station booking room at about 1:57 a.m. Jan. 10. The police report did not specify why Dietrich was in custody.
Dietrich allegedly began yelling at officers and said he was going to "do something stupid." Police moved him to another room and placed him on a bench. Dietrich then allegedly yelled at the officers, "Beat me up," stood up, clenched his fists, and started walking toward an officer.
The officer deployed his Taser, striking Dietrich in the chest with the prongs and causing instant compliance, according to the police report. He was later taken to Lutheran General Hospital for evaluation.
