Police Blotter
These items are from Mt. Prospect Police Department incident reports. The Journal publishes this police blotter every Wednesday and Friday.
CAR RECOVERED
Police recovered a car reported stolen from Rockford and took three people into custody at 5:45 p.m. Aug. 18. Sean Martinez, 30, of 2321 Halsted Rd. #523, Rockford, was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and driving with a suspended driver's license. After a random registration check showed the car had been reported stolen, police stopped Martinez in the 2600 block of Embers Road in Arlington Heights. The car had been left unlocked in the parking lot of a hotel in Rockford and police recovered video surveillance footage of the incident from that business. Martinez was also served an outstanding warrant from Des Plaines. Two passengers in the car, Colleen Sullivan, 35, of 750 Crest Ave., Elk Grove Village, and Samantha M. Dzikowski, 31, of 308 E. Theodore Lane, Itasca, were served outstanding warrants from Cook County. A fourth passenger in the vehicle was released without charges.
DRUG CHARGES
Samantha A. Kroll, 27, of 1718 Forest Cove Drive #207, Mt. Prospect, was charged with possession of a controlled substance at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 24. Police stopped her near her home after receiving a report of an impaired driver. During a search, officers allegedly recovered a bottle of suspected heroin from her purse.
Four people were charged with drug offenses after a traffic stop at 3:17 a.m. Aug. 15. Cyrus K. Jones, 28, of 524 E. 64th St., Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis, driving while under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol, and only one red taillight; Annette B. Miller, 28, of 1117 Jefferson St,. Lufian, Texas, and Damien G. Davis, 28, of 1509 E. 72nd Place, Chicago, were charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of cannabis. Rogelio Vargas-Garces, 23, of 1638 Greenwood Rd., Glenview, was charged with possession of cannabis. An officer stopped Jones at Crabtree and Alder lanes for allegedly having a broken taillight on his vehicle. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later recorded a .071 on a breath test. He allegedly admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the evening and also submitted to blood and urine testing at Northwest Community Healthcare Center in Arlington Heights. During searches, police allegedly recovered suspected cocaine, Ecstasy, and marijuana from the vehicle and the passengers. Miller was also served an outstanding warrant from Oak Park.
ALCOHOL CHARGES
Three people were taken into custody after allegedly being on the roof of Forest View School, 1901 Estates Drive. Michael V. Herman, 22, of 1510 N. Kennicott Ave., Arlington Heights, Nicholas B. Lazzara, 21, of 214 S. Vail St., Arlington Heights, and a 17-year-old Mt. Prospect man were charged with trespassing. The 17-year-old was also charged with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor and illegal possession of tobacco by a minor; the two older suspects were charged with illegal deliver of an alcoholic beverage to a minor. Police found the men at 9:46 p.m. Aug. 31. After bringing the suspects down from the roof, police allegedly recovered a bottle of beer and a pack of cigarettes from the 17-year-old. Additional empty bottles of beer were allegedly recovered from the roof of the school.
DRIVING CHARGES
Esther M. Quiralte-Aguilar, 40, of 4006 Wren St., Rolling Meadows, was charged with no valid driver's license and improper lane usage at 11:30 p.m. Sept. 1. An officer pulled her over in the 1600 block of Oakton Street in Elk Grove Village for allegedly drifting between lanes on Busse Road.
Jose Montoya-Tellez, 29, of 2150 S. Goebbert Rd. #201, Arlington Hts., was charged with no valid driver's license and disobeying a traffic control device. Police stopped him at 3:55 a.m. Sept. 2 for allegedly going through a red light at Busse and Algonquin roads. He has allegedly lived in this country for eight years without getting a driver's license.
Moises Cervantes, 28, of 365 Hawthorn Ave. #3B, Mt. Prospect, was charged with no valid driver's license and speeding at 10:55 a.m. Aug. 28. An officer pulled him over at Elmhurst Road and Hiawatha Lane for allegedly driving at 47 mph in a 30 mph zone.
