Police Blotter

These items are from Mt. Prospect Police Department incident reports.  The Journal publishes this police blotter every Wednesday and Friday.

SERVICE THEFT

Two men allegedly tried to rob a cab driver and fled without paying for a fare at 7:50 p.m. June 24. The men took the cab from Romeoville to the 1000 block of Lancaster Avenue in Mt. Prospect. When they arrived, the fare was $113.20. One of the men pulled a pocketknife partially out of his pocket and the cab driver told him to stop playing and pay the fare. The other suspect then tried to grab the driver's money pouch, but the driver blocked his attempt. Both men then fled from the vehicle.

TRESPASS CHARGED

Sofia Ayala, 25, of 2006 W. Algonquin Rd. #11B, Mt. Prospect, was charged with criminal trespass to land at 4:05 p.m. June 23. Police took her into custody in the office of Colonial Greens Apartments, 1958 W. Algonquin Rd. She allegedly caused a disturbance in the office and would not leave after several requests by police.

DRUG CHARGES

John W. Diviak, 28, of 2502 Cedar Glen Drive, Arlington Hts., was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, Edward B. Perez, 30, of 1195 W. Hunters Ridge, Hoffman Estates, was charged with possession of cannabis, and Shingo Noda, 24, of 2704 Embers Lane, Arlington Hts., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. They allegedly parked in a fire lane in the 1700 block of West Dempster Street at 5:30 p.m. June 11. When officers approached the car, they noticed the odor of burning cannabis from inside. During the investigation, officers allegedly recovered suspected marijuana and two glass pipes from the vehicle.

DUI CHARGES

John A. Glen, 51, of 625 Huntington Commons Drive #309, Mt. Prospect, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol at 11:35 a.m. June 12. He allegedly struck a parked car in a lot at his apartment building. Glen allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later recorded a .240 on a breath test.

Daniel J. Dilullo, 26, of 411 Enterprise Drive, Mt. Prospect, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, no proof of insurance, and speeding. An officer stopped him at River Road and Providence Lane at 1:55 a.m. June 18 for allegedly driving at 60 mph in a 45 mph zone. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later recorded a .167 on a breath test.

DRIVING CHARGES

Luis Blancos-Lopez, 33, o 3212 W. Lawrence Ave., Chicago, was charged with driving with a revoked driver's license, no proof of insurance, no valid registration, and no safety test. He was stopped at 10:10 a.m. June 23 at Oakton Street and Lexington Avenue for the alleged safety violation. He was also served an outstanding warrant from Cook County.

Victor B. Salgado, 34, of 559 E. Seegers Rd., Arlington Hts., was charged with no valid driver's license and disobeying a traffic control sign at 3:35 p.m. June 24. Police pulled him over at Golf and Elmhurst roads for allegedly going through a stop sign at Elmhurst Road and Lonnquist Boulevard. He has allegedly lived in Illinois for eight years without getting a driver's license.

STOLEN BICYCLES

An unlocked bicycle was taken from the 400 block of South Maple Street between 3 and 7:30 p.m. June 23.

A bicycle was taken from an open garage in the 1400 block of Fern Drive between 6 and 8 p.m. June 24.

BURGLARIES AND THEFTS

A window was broken and a radar detector and mp3 player were taken from a white 2005 Nissan Altima in the 1900 block of Grove Drive between 11:30 p.m. June 21 and 8 a.m. June 22.

A bag containing an $80 dress was taken from an unlocked blue 2007 BMW 615 near Prospect Avenue and Emerson Street between 6:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. June 22.

Someone took the spare tire from beneath a black 2005 Toyota 4-Runner in the 900 block of Burning Bush Lane. The theft occurred between March and noon June 18.

A wallet containing a driver's license, credit cards, and key cards was taken from an unlocked blue 2005 Chevrolet Corvette in the 2000 block of Seneca Lane between 3 and 7 p.m. June 22.

WARRANT APPREHENSION

Lamberto Arcos, 25, of 2078 W. Algonquin Rd. #A1, Mt. Prospect, was served an outstanding warrant from DuPage County. Police stopped him at 7:17 p.m. June 16 for allegedly driving with a flat tire on Algonquin Road at Busse Road.

VANDALISM REPORTS

Someone scratched words into the paint of a gold 2004 Buick LeSabre in the 1900 block of West Algonquin Road between 8 p.m. June 22 and 10 a.m. June 23.
