Survey Says: Dist. 59 Gets Good Grades

In April 2009, Elk Grove Township Elementary School District 59 surveyed students, parents, and staff using the Harris Interactive School Poll questionnaire.

The 2009 survey asked parents and students to rate their school by giving it a letter grade. About 94% of elementary school parents and 90% of junior high parents rated their school either "A" or "B".

The ratings given by students were similar, with 89% of elementary students, and 89% of secondary students, providing a rating of either A or B for their school.

The Harris School Poll was first used by the district in 1998. Data from this survey provided an opportunity for each school and the school district to establish priorities for improvement. The results from the 2000, 2003, and 2006 surveys have provided follow-up measures of the district's continuous improvement efforts. The response rate for all surveys has been good and the results from these surveys have been very positive. In most cases, the district's approval ratings are well above national averages.

Building and district personnel continue to analyze the Harris School Poll results from the 2009 survey. Their findings will assist in designing future school and district improvement plans.

Elk Grove Township Elementary District 59 serves students from parts of Des Plaines, Elk Grove Village, Mt. Prospect, and Arlington Hts.
