Police Blotter
These items are from Mt. Prospect Police Department incident reports. The Journal publishes this police blotter every Wednesday and Friday.
FALSE ALARM
Someone pulled a fire alarm at an apartment building in the 200 block of North Westgate Drive at 11:30 a.m. June 16. Police talked to several residents but no one had any information about who may have pulled the alarm.
DRUG CHARGES
Eren Ergul, 21, of 720 Wellington St. #505, Elk Grove Village, was charged with possession of cannabis at 11:30 a.m. June 9. An officer saw him riding a bicycle in the 500 block of Franklin Street at 6:54 p.m. on May 12. Ergul allegedly threw several items into a dumpster and fled. Police recovered three plastic containers of suspected marijuana and a digital scale. Officers located him on June 9 at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse.
Frank Leuzzi, 20, of 9 N. Marcella Rd., Mt. Prospect, was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful use of a weapon. He was taken into custody at 9:35 p.m. June 13 at Barberry and Crabtree lanes. Police were investigating suspicious subjects and recovered marijuana, two glass pipes, and a set of brass knuckles.
DUI CHARGES
Arturo B. Sandoval, 37, of 47 N. Sixth Ave., Des Plaines, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, failure to signal, and violating the median. Police stopped him at 4:16 a.m. June 7 at Central Road and Louis Street after he allegedly did not signal a lane change and straddled the median on Rand Road. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later recorded a .137 on a breath test.
DRIVING CHARGES
Ivaylo Mitrev, 20, of 3027 Jackson St., Arlington Heights, was charged with no valid driver's license and speeding at 6:54 p.m. June 15. Police stopped him for allegedly driving at 50 mph in a 35 mph zone on Camp McDonald Road and Mandel Lane. He has allegedly lived in Illinois for one year without getting a driver's license.
James M. Green 27, of 2025 Stanley St., Schaumburg, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license, suspended registration, and improper display of registration. Police pulled him over at 12:41 a.m. June 15 at Busse and Arrow roads for allegedly not having a front license plate.
Joe A. Bonilla, 29, of 950 Jefferson Square, Elk Grove Village, was charged with driv ing with a suspended driver's license and expired registration at 4:50 p.m. June 17. He was stopped at Algonquin Road and Dempster Street for the alleged registration violation.
Juan D. Gonzalez-Alvarez, 38, of 4422 N. Tripp Ave., Chicago, was charged with no valid driver's license, no proof of insurance, inadequate splashguards, and no valid safety test. Police pulled him over in the 300 block of West Rand Road at 10:07 a.m. June 17 for the alleged safety violations.
Angel Alejos, 37, of 1916 Birdstone Circle, Carpentersville, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license and speeding at 10:43 p.m. June 16. He was pulled over at Landmeier and Elmhurst roads for allegedly driving at 50 mph in a 35 mph zone.
Sergio Guttierez, 19, of 918 N. 24th Ave., Melrose Park, was charged with no valid driver's license, no proof of insurance, and illegal parking in the crosswalk. He allegedly parked across the crosswalk and both lanes of Highland Street at Main Street at 8:34 p.m. June 15.
BURGLARIES AND THEFTS
A window was broken and several items taken from a gray 2008 Honda Fit in the 1000 block of Callero Circle. The burglary occurred between 6 p.m. June 7 and 6:10 a.m. June 8. Taken were a case of 200 compact discs, a radar detector, a global positioning system, and a pulley valued at a total of $3,813.
A window was broken and a radar detector and the stereo were taken from a red 1997 Chevrolet Camaro in the 1400 block of Busse Road. The burglary occurred between 10 p.m. June 14 and 6:45 a.m. June 15.
Someone broke a window and took the stereo from a silver 2001 Nissan Altima in the 1400 block of Busse Road between 10 p.m. June 14 and 7:50 a.m. June 15.
A window was broken and a global positioning system taken from a white 2003 Dodge Durango in the 1400 block of South Busse Road between 9 p.m. June 14 and 10 a.m. June 15.
WARRANT APPREHENSIONS
Kenneth W. Combs, 43, of 4113 N. Keystone Ave., Chicago, was served an outstanding warrant from DuPage County at 4:11 p.m. June 16. An officer stopped him at Algonquin and Elmhurst roads after a random registration check showed the warrant. He was also charged with no proof of insurance.
Nicole M. Marlow, 37, of 912 I-Oka Ave., Mt. Prospect, was served an outstanding warrant from Arlington Hts. at 8:45 p.m. June 5. Police took her into custody near her home.
