Village Works Through Triangle Lot 'Snags'

At Tuesday night's Mt. Prospect Village Board meeting, Assistant Village Manager David Strahl mentioned there had been a couple "snags" pertaining to construction of a temporary parking lot in downtown "small triangle" across from Blues Bar and Ye Olde Town Inn.

According to Village Manager Michael Janonis, the "snags" stem from making sure a lease agreement between the village and members of Homebrook LLC (property owners) is in order and everyone is "on the same page."

"We have been and continue to pave the properties the village owns," said Janonis. "Once we get the thumbs up from all the members of Homebrook, we will continue paving over the other properties. We anticipate the whole thing to be done before the Blues Fest this Saturday."

The 40-space four-hour limit parking lot will be a temporary lot that will provide surrounding businesses with additional customer parking while final development issues are resolved for the small triangle area at Northwest Hwy. and Elmhurst Road.

The village will pay Homebrook $10 annually and be responsible for all expenses related to construction and maintenance of the lot.

The agreement is for one year with subsequent automatic renewals for additional one-year terms thereafter until terminated.

If and when that area is redeveloped, Cooney said the parking lot will be torn up.
