Blues, Arts Fest Return

Fans of the blues will not only be able to listen to music at this Saturday's Mt. Prospect "Blues on the Green" music fest, beginning at 2 p.m., they will also find pottery, jewelry, paintings and more at the Fine Arts Festival also taking place at Emerson Street and Busse Avenue that day.

Attendees are asked to donate one can or box of non-perishable food for the Mt. Prospect Food Pantry. With the increased demand for food, event planners are hoping to double the amount of donations this year, compared to last year.

"Last summer's turnout exceeded our expectations," said Maura El Metennani, village public information officer. "The steady crowd of all ages had a good time enjoying the music.  It was the perfect venue to help our community by tapping into the generosity of our residents." The Fine Arts Festival features a variety of paintings, sculptures, photography, pottery, glass, and jewelry from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"Blues on the Green, along with our other downtown events such as the Downtown Block Party, Fall Festival, and Farmers' Market, will continue to encourage everyone to be a part of Mt. Prospect," said Village Manager Michael Janonis.
