Farmers' Market Opens Sunday
The Mt. Prospect Lions Club Farmers' Market will open for its ninth year this Sunday, June 14, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the west Metra train station parking lot in downtown Mt. Prospect at Elmhurst Road (Rt. 83) and Northwest Hwy.
This year's market runs through Sunday, Oct. 25, depending upon customer demand and vendor availability. Market hours will be every Sunday morning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Additional parking this year will be located on the north side of Northwest Hwy. directly across from the market. There will be 36 vendors taking part in this year's market.
Money raised from the Farmers' Market is donated to local charities, including the Mt. Prospect Historical Society, the Mt. Prospect Food Pantry, Mt. Prospect Fire and Police departments, and local grade schools for eye exams and eyeglasses. The Lions Club has been bringing local vendors and farmers together with people from all over the suburbs on Sunday mornings in downtown Mt. Prospect since the turn of this century.
