Police Blotter

These items are from Mt. Prospect Police Department incident reports. The Journal publishes this police blotter every Wednesday and Friday.

MAN ATTACKED

Four men attacked a 21-year-old Chicago man in the 1700 block of Chariot Court. The victim was walking to his car at about 6:10 p.m. May 30 when a man flashed gang signs and yelled the name of a gang at him.

The victim tried to run but four other men allegedly struck him with bats and a rock. The victim received a cut to his leg from jumping over a fence as well as a cut to his thumb and pain in his shoulder where he was struck.

PROSTITUTION CHARGED

Leonel Gonzales, 31, of 2220 W. Algonquin Rd. #5, Mt. Prospect, was charged with two counts of prostitution at 3:30 a.m. May 22.

Two undercover officers approached him in the 2000 block of West Algonquin Road after seeing him allegedly hiding behind a stand of trees. Gonzales allegedly offered to perform a sexual act on the officers for $100 and the officers told him they didn't have any money. One of them went to get money while the other waited with Gonzales. He allegedly grabbed the other officer's buttocks while waiting for the first officer. After the first officer returned with the money, Gonzales allegedly repeated his offer and took the money at which time he was taken into custody.

DRUG CHARGE

Patrick Ryan, 35, of 682 N. Maple Ave., Palatine, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and no rear registration plate light at 9:20 p.m. May 15. Police stopped him at Dempster Street and Busse Road for the alleged lighting violation after suspecting he was involved in a drug transaction at an apartment in the 500 block of Dempster. Two rocks of crack cocaine were allegedly recovered from his pocket.

DUI CHARGES

Paul A. Koutnik, 47, of 1515 W. Hollywood Ave., Chicago, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and improper lighting at 1 a.m. May 30. He was stopped at Elmhurst Road and Oakton Street for allegedly having only one headlight. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later refused a breath test.

Donald Shahini, 22, of 1090 Tamarack Drive #474, Mt. Prospect, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, disobeying a traffic control sign, and speeding. Police pulled him over in the 1000 block of Beechwood Drive at 1:27 a.m. May 31. Shahini allegedly drove at 50 mph in a 35 mph zone on Busse Road then went through a stop sign at Willow Lane and Robert Drive. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later recorded a .105 on a breath test.
