More Space Awaits Mt. Prospect Gym

By RICHARD MAYER Assistant Managing Editor

Owners of a Mt. Prospect gymnasium facility are looking to expand the facility's square footage by moving down the street from its current location.

Alex Kotlyar, owner of International Gymnastics, 900 Business Center Dr., is seeking permission from planning and zoning commissioners and village trustees to move his operation from 16,000 sq. ft. to 21,200 sq. ft. at 520 Business Center Dr. in the Kensington Business Center (KBC).

Kotlyar is expected to appear before the Planning and Zoning Commission on Thursday, May 28. If approved, according to Director of Community Development Bill Cooney, the request will be presented to the village board for possible final approval on Tuesday, June 16.

If approved, Kotlyar said he anticipates moving in by late summer or early fall.

According to Kotlyar, he and his wife, Nataliya, first began operating their business approximately three-and-half years ago.

International Gymnastics is an organization created to provide gymnastic programs, but also trains individuals for regional and world competitions.

Currently, Kotlyar employs seven individuals but that could increase if and when they move into their new space.
