Trustees Approve Monies To Local Service Agencies
Mt. Prospect officials last week approved funding to several public service agencies not to exceed $76,500.
Last September, the village board approved the 2009 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Action Plan. That plan includes funding for several public service agencies that provide a variety of services and programs for the village's low-and moderate-income residents.
The following agencies include:
* CEDA Northwest Self-Help Center, Inc. for Emergency Housing Program- This will provide an emergency housing and housing counseling program, and a child care subsidy program to assist near homeless and homeless low and moderate income residents
* Children's Advocacy Center- This provides immediate support and crisis intervention to child victims of sexual assault and their families
* Greater Wheeling Area Youth Organization (GWYO) for Summer Adventure North- This will provide summer programs and after school tutoring activities that include educational and recreational activities for youth.
* Higher Up Ministries for Hire Up Job Training- This provides job training and mentoring to Mt. Prospect residents
* Journeys from PADS to HOPE- This provides case management services, preventative services, follow-up, advocacy, transportation, housing and food vouchers, emergency medical referral and vouchers, housing location inspection, job preparation, employment services, and clothing and food pantry resources for homeless and near homeless population of Mt. Prospect
* Northwest Center Against Sexual Assault- This will provide sexual assault counseling and advocacy to child, adolescent and adult victims of rape/sexual abuse
* Resources for Community Living- This provides a program that includes housing options and support services to individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities
* Search Development Center for Rehab- This provides group homes for adults with disabilities
* Suburban Primary Health Care Council for Access to Care- This provides a program to facilitate access to primary health care.
