An Emotional Day For Dad As Daughter Weds

Tom and Jessica enjoy their first dance as husband and wife.

By DENISE FLEISCHER Lifestyle Editor

Jim Revelle, dean of Students at Christian Life Church in Mt. Prospect, recently walked his daughter, Jessica Danielle, down the aisle at her wedding.

Not only did he see his daughter off into marriage, he also provided pre-marital counseling and conducted the ceremony.

"I've done dozens of weddings, but with this one I stood there and was very emotional," said Revelle. "I kissed her and lifted her veil and when that was finished I transferred roles with the pastor who asked the question, 'Who giveth this woman to be married to this man?'"

After an opening prayer, Revelle moved behind the altar to conduct the ceremony. The father of groom Thomas Tuttle presented a scripture reading. Then, Jessica's mother sang a wedding song before Revelle took over.

"My wife sang an original song she'd written and she had a guitarist accompaniment, our youngest son," Revelle said.

A reception was held in the café/auditorium of the school Revelle's wife teaches at in south suburban Shorewood.

"Tom's grandmother owns a catering business, so she brought her crew and we had a roast beef dinner," said Revelle. "My wife did all the flowers. One hundred fifty people attended the reception."

Guests were from Christian Life Church and Pathway Christian Fellowship in Shorewood.

"Many of the students at Christian Life were friends of Jessica's. She attended the college for one year," Revelle said. The bride is going to school this fall to complete her Associates degree in Rockford.

The couple honeymooned in Florida and resides in Rockford.

"They're good kids. Inseparable. Joined at the heart," said the pastor---and father---of the bride.
