THEFT
CHARGED
Kelly M. Smith, 44, of 1727 Crystal Lane #705, Mt. Prospect, was charged with theft of services at 8:53 p.m. July 29. A cab driver told police he picked her up and drove her to an address in River Grove, then returned her to her residence. She allegedly told him she needed to go inside for money to pay the $90 fare, and then never returned to the taxicab. Officers located her inside her apartment and took her into custody when she allegedly refused to pay the fare.
Baldomero Campechano, 25, of 1964 W. Algonquin Rd. #5A, Mt. Prospect, was charged with theft by possession. An officer saw him in the 1900 block of West Algonquin Road at 5:45 p.m. July 25. He was allegedly holding a global positioning system and could not tell the officers where it came from, according to the police report. Police later learned it had been taken from a car in a burglary reported in Schaumburg on July 24. They took Campechano into custody at his home at 7 p.m. Aug. 12.
FIRE
SET
Someone placed newspaper and wood into a dumpster in the 1900 block of West Lonnquist Boulevard and set it afire at about 10 p.m. Aug. 14. Firefighters arrived and extinguished the blaze. The plastic lid was melted on the dumpster.
ALCOHOL
CHARGES
Rene Palacios-Ramos, 19, of 515 W. Dempster St. #1S, Mt. Prospect, and an 18-year-old Mt. Prospect man were charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and unlawful use of intoxicating compounds. Police apprehended them in the 1500 block of South Linneman Road at 6:51 p.m. Aug. 13. Both men allegedly had cans of beer and were inhaling the fumes of paint remover.
RETAIL THEFT
CHARGED
Carlos Solano, 31, of 261 Renee Terrace, Wheeling, was charged with retail theft at Carson Pirie Scott & Co. in Randhurst Mall. He was stopped at 12:39 p.m. Aug. 14 after he allegedly tried to leave without paying for a belt valued at $45.
DRIVING
CHARGES
Arnulfo F. Gonzalez, 29, of 27 E. Armitage Ave., Northlake, was charged with no valid driver's license and no valid safety test at 10:05 a.m. Aug. 11. Police stopped him at Golf Road and Hunt Club Drive for the alleged safety violation.
Javier Texis, 24, of 1707 W. Mansard Lane #308, Mt. Prospect, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license and speeding at 9:01 p.m. Aug. 11. He was pulled over on Oakton Street at Cannon Drive for allegedly driving at 52 mph in a 35 mph zone on Elmhurst Road. He has allegedly lived in this country for three years without getting a driver's license.
Raymond Cardenas, 27, of 1375 Rebecca Drive #305, Hoffman Estates, was charged with driving with a revoked driver's license and disobeying a traffic control device. Police stopped him at 4:45 p.m. Aug. 12 at Isabella and Owen streets for the alleged traffic violation.
Darlene Gallinski, 51, of 1920 E. Higgins Rd., Elk Grove Village, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license and expired registration at 10:26 a.m. Aug. 13. An officer stopped her at Oakton Street and Elmhurst Road for the alleged registration violation. She was also served an outstanding warrant from Mt. Prospect for failure to appear.
Christina M. Pollworth, 28, of 2618 N. Chestnut Ave., Arlington Heights, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license, no proof of insurance, and suspended registration at 11:50 p.m. Aug. 12. Police pulled her over at Rand and Schoenbeck roads after a random registration check showed the alleged license violation.
Jose A. Garcia-Chavez, 36, of 1145 N. Boxwood Drive #202, Mt. Prospect, was charged with no valid driver's license and disobeying a traffic control device at 7:42 a.m. Aug. 14. Police stopped him for allegedly turning right where prohibited from Rand Road onto Isabella Street. He has allegedly lived in Illinois for three years without getting a driver's license.
BURGLARIES
AND THEFTS
Someone took a cellular telephone from the purse of a 38-year-old Chicago woman shopping at Wal-Mart in Mt. Prospect Plaza. The theft occurred between 8:30 and 9 p.m. Aug. 10.
A wallet containing a driver's license, a credit card, and $15 cash, a bag of groceries, and a pair of shoes were taken from a blue 2003 Dodge Durango in the 2000 block of Ivy Lane between 5:30 p.m. Aug. 10 and 6:30 a.m. Aug. 11.
Someone took a radar detector from a black 2002 Buick Rendezvous in the 500 block of Garwood Lane before 7 a.m. Aug. 12.
A cellular telephone was taken from a table at Buffalo Wild Wings, 301 E. Euclid Ave., between 12:30 and 1 a.m. Aug. 12. The owner told police she left the phone on the table when she left the restaurant. When she returned, the phone was missing.
A window was broken and a global positioning system taken from a black 2007 Ford Fusion in the 700 block of North Eastwood Avenue between 11:30 p.m. Aug. 12 and 6:30 a.m. Aug. 13.
Someone entered an apartment in the 1800 block of Phillip Drive between 8 a.m. and noon Aug. 7 through an unsecured door. They took jewelry $7,350, about $4,000 in cash, three passports, and two Social Security cards.
A laptop computer was taken from an apartment in the 1300 block of West Cottonwood Lane between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Aug. 13.
Someone broke a window and took a radar detector and golf clubs from a red 2007 Porsche Carrera in the 1800 block of Magnolia Lane between 2 and 7:10 a.m. Aug. 14.
VANDALISM
REPORTS
Exterior home lights were damaged in the 900 block of Westgate Road between 10:30 p.m. Aug. 11 and 5:24 p.m. Aug. 12/
Someone broke three windows and the windshield and slashed all four tires on a gold 1998 Cadillac DeVille in the 1200 block of Wheeling Road. The damage occurred between 10 p.m. Aug. 9 and 11:15 a.m. Aug. 10.
Someone spray-painted letters on an apartment building wall in the 1400 block of Brownstone Court. The damage occurred before 4:10 p.m. Aug. 12.
Two spotlights were broken in front of Fisher Clerical, 699 Wheeling Road, between 6 p.m. Aug. 13 and 5:30 a.m. Aug. 14.
Someone keyed a red 1999 Ford pickup truck in the 1700 block of East Kensington Road between 11:30 and 11:50 a.m. Aug. 14.
