DUI
CHARGES
Paul J. Obrochta, 23, of 4021 Prairie Ave., Schiller Park, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, speeding, and failure to dim lights at 12:35 a.m. July 24. An officer saw him on Elmhurst Road near Midway Drive allegedly driving at 51 mph in a 35 mph zone with his high beams activated. Police stopped him in the 800 block of Oakton Street. He was allegedly slurring his words, mumbling, and had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. He allegedly refused to get out of his car for several minutes, and then needed the vehicle for support after the officer finally convinced him to exit. He allegedly refused field sobriety and breath tests.
Giovanni Busano, 21, of 4791 Highwood Lane, Lake in the Hills, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, illegal transportation of alcohol, and disobeying a traffic control device. Police stopped him at 3:09 a.m. July 26 at Golf Road and Beau Drive after he allegedly stopped in the middle of the intersection of Golf and Elmhurst Road on a red light. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later recorded a .178 on a breath test.
An open bottle of liquor was allegedly recovered from inside his vehicle.
TRESPASS
CHARGED
Vanessa Rangel, 20, of 4728 Arbor Drive, Rolling Meadows, was charged with criminal trespass to land at 3:43 p.m. July 31. She was taken into custody after a domestic disturbance in the 400 block of Enterprise Drive. Officers removed her from that residence about a half-hour before she allegedly returned to the address and began beating and kicking the entry door, according to the police report.
RETAIL THEFT
CHARGED
Emeliya Lachowicz, 51, and Yaroslava Vasylyshyn, 52, both of 3 Courts of Tidewater, Lincolnshire, were charged with retail theft and possession of a detection removal device at 5:50 p.m. July 30. The women allegedly took clothing valued at a total of $853 from the shelves of Carson Pirie Scott & Co. in Randhurst Mall, brought it into fitting rooms, and removed the security sensor devices. Security for the store apprehended them as they allegedly tried to leave without paying for the items.
Shalene M. Janke, 19, of 917 Beau Drive, Des Plaines, was charged with retail theft after an alleged incident at Kohl's Department Store, 1500 S. Elmhurst Road. At 5:40 p.m. July 28, she allegedly left the store without paying for two necklaces and a ring valued at a total of $140. A security guard for the store confronted her and she allegedly threw the ring at the guard then fled. Police reviewed security tapes from the store and identified Janke. Officers took her into custody at her home at 4:30 p.m. July 29.
DRIVING
CHARGES
Mihail N. Toshkov, 59, of 812 W. Dresser Drive, Mt. Prospect, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license and speeding at 5:15 p.m. July 30. Police stopped him for allegedly driving at 39 mph in a 25 mph zone on Lincoln Street near Ojibwa Trail.
Vicente M. Ascencion, 35, of 2006 W. Algonquin Rd. #6B, Mt. Prospect, was charged with no valid driver's license and suspended registration at 4:58 p.m. July 30. He was pulled over in the 1900 block of Algonquin Road after a random registration check showed the alleged license violation.
Jose G. Gonzalez-Suarez, 39, of 1904 Green Lane #2B, Palatine, was charged with no valid driver's license and speeding. An officer stopped him at 4:30 p.m. July 30 for allegedly driving at 47 mph in a 30 mph zone on Northwest Highway near Fairview Avenue. He has allegedly lived in Illinois for three years without getting a driver's license.
Antonio Aguila-Martinez, 23, of 2065 Tonne Rd. #219, Arlington Heights, was charged with no valid driver's license and failure to signal at 4:12 p.m. July 29. Police pulled him over at Dearborn Street and Algonquin Road for allegedly turning without a signal. He was also served three outstanding warrants, police said.
Matthew A. Mallette, 20, of 3902 Sandpiper Drive, Hanover Park, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license and speeding at 6:14 a.m. July 22. He was stopped on Euclid Avenue at Wolf Road for allegedly driving at 60 mph in a 40 mph zone.
Jesus Vergara, 35, of 2004 W. Algonquin Rd. #7A, Mt. Prospect, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license and driving the wrong way on a one-way street. At 4:35 a.m. July 29, he allegedly turned from Elmhurst Road onto Huntington Commons Road, and then backed up towards the west in the eastbound lanes back onto Elmhurst, police said.
David J. Wheeler, 19, of 1810 Locust Ave., Mt. Prospect, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license and failure to signal at 2:43 a.m. July 31. An officer pulled him over at Palm and Sprucewood drives for allegedly not signaling a turn.
STOLEN
BICYCLES
An unlocked bicycle was taken from a patio in the 1800 block of Morris Hill Drive between 9 p.m. July 29 and 4:30 p.m. July 30.
Two unlocked bicycles were taken from a back yard in the 2800 block of Briarwood Drive East between 1 and 6 a.m. July 30.
CLUBS
SWIPED
A set of golf clubs in a bag were taken from the Mt. Prospect Golf Course, 600 See Gwun Ave. The owner told police she left the clubs in a bag return at the course at 12:30 p.m. July 29. She realized the next morning she had not placed them in her vehicle before leaving and they were gone when she arrived back at the club on July 30.
CAR
BURGLARIZED
Someone took a global positioning system, a cellular telephone, and a purse from an unlocked green 2000 Honda CR-V in the 1200 block of Boxwood Drive. The burglary occurred between 9:45 and 10:50 a.m. July 30.
VANDALISM
REPORTED
Someone broke a window and turned on the headlights of a red 1996 Saturn SL in the 900 block of Boxwood Drive between 12:30 and 6 a.m. July 30.
