MAN
BEATEN
A Mt. Prospect man reported being beaten at 11:28 p.m. July 16 in the 1400 block of South Busse Road. He was standing near an apartment building, talking to a resident through a window, when three men approached him. They asked him what gang he was with and he replied he was not involved in any gang. They asked him again, and then began to beat him. One of the suspects used a broken bottle to strike him, he told police. The suspects fled before officers arrived. The victim received several cuts to his hand and face and many bruises and abrasions in the attack, police said. He was taken to Northwest Community Healthcare Center in Arlington Heights for treatment.
HIT-AND-RUN
CHARGED
Jeffery J. Smith, 29, of 517 Maple Wood Drive, Antioch, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a revoked driver's license, illegal transportation of alcohol, and disobeying a traffic control device. At 2:55 p.m. July 10, he allegedly went through a red light at Rand Road and Business Center Drive, striking one vehicle and pushing it into another, police said. Smith allegedly fled the scene and officers located his vehicle, with an open can of beer inside, in the 600 block of East Rand Road. After further search, police found Smith inside Home Depot, 350 E. Kensington Rd. and took him into custody.
DUI
CHARGES
Jean M. Grossman, 42, of 8320 W. Berridge Lane, Glendale, Ariz., was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, failure to yield right of way, and speeding. At 1:58 p.m. July 15, she allegedly made a left turn directly in front of a squad car from Beau Drive onto Golf Road. She allegedly did not stop for the officer who followed her with lights flashing onto Elmhurst Road where she allegedly drove at 42 mph in a 30 mph zone. She finally turned onto Council Trail, drove over a curb, and stopped, police said. She allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later recorded a .299 on a breath test.
ALCOHOL
CHARGES
Rigoberto Medrano, 20, of 2102 Falmouth Court, Streamwood, Jerry D. Aranda, 19, of 419 Perrie Drive #201, Elk Grove Village, and Deborah A. Ryder, 19, of 716 Debra St., Des Plaines, were charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. Police apprehended them at 2:54 a.m. July 12 while investigating a report of shots fired in the 1700 block of Chariot Court.
RETAIL THEFT
CHARGED
Nicholas S. Labordta, 25, of 4119 N. Narragansett Ave., Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft, felony theft by emergency exit, driving with a suspended driver's license, expired registration, and improper display of registration. He allegedly took a tool kit valued at $499 from Home Depot, 350 E. Kensington Rd., at 12:19 p.m. June 30. He fled through the rear emergency exit of the store, activating the alarm, got into his vehicle, and tried to escape. Officers responding to the scene located him in the 1100 block of Feehanville Drive and took him into custody. Police allegedly recovered the tool kit from inside his car. He was also served an outstanding warrant from DuPage County.
Patrick C. Kiser, 49, of 1S200 White Oak Drive, West Chicago, was charged with retail theft at Menard's, 740 E. Rand Rd. He was taken into custody at 1:09 p.m. July 8 after he allegedly tried to leave without paying for two carbon monoxide detectors and water purification powder valued at a total of $90.20.
DRIVING
CHARGES
Ivan Orozco, 25, of 1100 Judson St. Unit GA, Bensenville, was charged with no valid driver's license and improper lane usage at 11:47 p.m. July 2. Police stopped him at Elmhurst and Algonquin roads for allegedly crossing the centerline two times. He was also served an outstanding warrant from DuPage County.
Dustin A. Bragg, 30, of 1810 Hemlock Drive, Schaumburg, was charged with driving with a revoked driver's license, no proof of insurance, and failure to yield right of way at an intersection. He was taken into custody at 7:46 a.m. July 15 after he allegedly went through a red light at Busse and Algonquin roads.
Ramon Calderon-Corona, 45, of 7500 S. Elmhurst Rd. #305, Des Plaines, was charged with no valid driver's license, no proof of insurance, and following too closely at 8:50 p.m. July 16. He was taken into custody after a traffic accident at Algonquin and Busse roads.
Andriy Protasov, 40, of 1747 Crystal Lane, Mt. Prospect, was charged with speeding more than 40 mph over the limit at 7:11 a.m. July 14. Police were monitoring traffic on Hi Lusi Avenue in response to citizen complaints of speeding. An officer saw Protasov allegedly turn from Golf Road onto Hi Lusi at a high rate of speed. He was allegedly driving at 65 mph in a 25 mph zone when police stopped him.
Salvador R. Mejia, 20, of 1424 Yellowstone Drive, Streamwood, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license, no proof of insurance, and speeding. Police stopped him at 6:40 a.m. July 16 for allegedly driving at 60 mph in a 35 mph zone on Elmhurst Road near Midway Drive.
Juan Garcia, 53, of 780 Piper Lane #2A, Prospect Heights, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license at 9:54 p.m. July 16. An officer pulled him over at Wheeling and Kensington roads after a random registration check showed the alleged license violation.
Isabel P. Gonzalez-Villanueva, 49, of 5155 W. Roscoe St., Chicago, was charged with no valid driver's license and failure to yield right of way at 10:30 a.m. July 17. Police took her into custody after a traffic accident on Schoenbeck Road near Rand Road.

BICYCLE
An unlocked bicycle was taken from the 800 block of West Kensington Road between 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. July 14.
SPEAKER
TAKEN
Someone took a speaker and amplifier from a home in the 600 block of West Rand Road between midnight and 3 a.m. July 5.
SCREENS
REMOVED
Someone removed the screens from the windows of a garage in the 1400 block of Burning Bush Lane between June 28 and noon July 12 in an apparent burglary attempt.
VANDALISM
REPORTED
Someone flattened all four tires and broke all the windows, mirrors, and lights on a blue 1996 Chevrolet Lumina in the 1700 block of Mansard Lane. The damage occurred between 1 and 2:48 a.m. July 12.
