Police Blotter

These items are from Mount Prospect Police Department incident reports. The Mount Prospect Journal publishes this police blotter every Wednesday and Friday.

DUI CHARGES

Adam Grabowski, 22, of 219 S. Main St., Mt. Prospect, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and violating the median at 11:33 p.m. June 2. An officer stopped him on Northwest Highway at Maple Street for allegedly driving on the wrong side of the median. He allegedly fell asleep several times while police were speaking to him. When the officer tried to have Grabowski perform field sobriety tests, he allegedly fell asleep again and nearly fell to the ground, according to the police report. He allegedly admitted taking heroin and was taken to Northwest Community Healthcare Center in Arlington Heights for treatment. At the hospital, he submitted to blood and urine testing, police said.

Bradley J. Smith, 40, of 259 Fallbrook Court, East Dundee, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, and improper lane usage at 1:27 a.m. June 5. He was pulled over for allegedly weaving between lanes on Euclid Avenue near Wheeling Road. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later recorded a .144 on a breath test.

Steven H. Leigeber, 47, of 500 Hemlock Lane, Libertyville, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, obstructing the roadway, and leaving the roadway. He allegedly struck a parkway tree in the 200 block of West Sunset Road then stopped on Sunset near Tower Drive in the middle of the roadway, police said. His car was damaged when officers located him at 3:13 a.m. May 31, and he allegedly admitted to striking "something," but did not know what he hit, according to the police report. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later recorded a .190 on a breath test.

Hea W. Choi, 42, of 131 Morningside Lane, Buffalo Grove, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Police took her into custody at 4:55 a.m. June 1 after a traffic accident on Euclid Avenue at Wolf Road. Although the alleged accident occurred before 5 a.m., Choi told police she drank beer at midnight then waited seven hours before driving home, according to the police report. She allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later refused a breath test.

DRIVING

CHARGES

Hassan Monsurat, 42, of 4640 N. Sheridan Rd. #1301, Chicago, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license and speeding. Police pulled her over at 10:06 a.m. June 3 at Central and Wolf roads for allegedly driving at 53 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Lorenzo Renovato, 28, of 1900 Bristol Circle, Carpentersville, was charged with no valid driver's license and cracked windshield at 4:35 p.m. June 3. An officer stopped him in the 2000 block of West Algonquin Road for the alleged equipment violation. He has allegedly lived in Illinois for six years without getting a driver's license. He was also served an

outstanding warrant from Kane County.

Liz Ortega, 23, of 2008 W. Algonquin Rd. #2C, Mt. Prospect, was charged with no valid driver's license and obstructed windshield. Police pulled her over at 4:18 p.m. June 3 at Algonquin Road and Briarwood Drive for allegedly having necklaces and CDs hanging from her rearview mirror.

Hipolito Sotarriba, 30, of 237 E. Dennis St., Wheeling, was charged with no valid driver's license and no nred taillights at 3:11 a.m. June 4. An officer stopped him at Elmhurst Road and Euclid Avenue for the alleged equipment violation.

Felipe Botello, 28, of 2008 W. Algonquin Rd. #2B, Mt. Prospect, was charged with driving with a revoked driver's license and improper lane usage. Police pulled him over at 4:31 p.m. June 2 in the 1700 block of West Algonquin Road for allegedly driving over the median lines then back into the lanes of traffic.

Larue M. Patterson, 39, of 8947 S. East End Ave., Chicago, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license and no rear registration plate light at 9 p.m. June 2. An officer stopped him at Emerson Street and Lonnquist Boulevard for the alleged lighting violation.

STOLEN

BICYCLE

Someone took a bicycle from the 2300 block of Lexington Drive between midnight and 10 a.m. May 27.

BURGLARIES

AND THEFTS

Someone took a global positioning system from an unlocked black 2002 Ford F350 in the 400 block of East Prospect Avenue between 6:15 and 6:45 p.m. June 5.

Three engine cores were taken from Smile Auto Sales, 2020 E. Euclid Ave. at 4:15 a.m. June 4. Police recovered surveillance video from the business showing a man in a pickup truck take the items.

Someone broke a window and took a global positioning system and the stereo from a silver 2000 Honda Civic in the 1000 block of Grove Street between 9:15 p.m. June 4 and 8 a.m. June 5.

Two windows were broken on a red 1995 Chevrolet Astrovan in the 1700 block of Dennis Drive. The owner told police he heard noises at 3 a.m. June 5 and looked out to find the windows broken and an unknown man running from the scene.

A window was broken and a radar detector taken from a gold 2002 Mercedes E320 in the 900 block of Heritage Street between 11 p.m. June 5 and 7:45 a.m. June 6.

Three laptop computers were taken from a black 1994 Infinity J30 in the 1900 block of Maya Drive between 3:30 and 11:30 p.m. June 8.

Someone took a laptop computer and the faceplate from the stereo from a white 1991 Audi 100 at Tower Inn & Suites, 303 E. Algonquin Rd. The burglary occurred between 3 and 8 a.m. June 8.

Two tires were taken from a golf cart in the 1500 block of East Euclid Avenue between 9 p.m. June 6 and 5:30 a.m. June 8.

Someone entered a home in the 200 block of West Euclid Avenue between 7:30 and 10:05 p.m. June 6. They took cash totaling $81.

A laptop computer and a cordless drill were taken from a white 2000 GMC Savana in the 1100 block of Boxwood Drive between 3:20 and 3:45 p.m. June 6.

VANDALISM

REPORTS

A window was broken on a silver 2002 Toyota 4-Runner in the 1700 block of Freedom Court between 10:15 p.m. June 5 and 9:30 a.m. June 6.

Someone scratched a red 2006 Chrysler Sebring in the 300 block of East Euclid Avenue between 9:15 and 10:15 a.m. June 8.
