Merchants To Celebrate
A group of merchants from Briarwood Plaza shopping center in Mt. Prospect have joined together to initiate their first ever Cinco de Mayo Festival, scheduled for Saturday, May 17 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 1801-1843 W. Algonquin Rd.
According to village officials, it will be a family oriented event featuring live music and mariachis, food, raffles, clowns, a jumping jack and numerous prizes.
"We wanted to create a special day for our customers and neighbors," said Jessica Frias, one of the organizers of the festival. "It's also a chance to celebrate our heritage and culture." The Briarwood Plaza Merchants Cinco de Mayo festival is sponsored by numerous local businesses in cooperation with the Village of Mt. Prospect and the Mt. Prospect Park District.
Parking will be available behind "Los Compadres" restaurant.
