Annual Senior Day Returning To Randhurst
The 20th Annual Senior Celebration Day will be held on Wednesday, May 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Randhurst Shopping Center in Mt. Prospect, for the last time.
Due to the mall being demolished later this summer to construct a new lifestyle center, the event will continue next year at Arlington Park racetrack, according to Township High School Dist. 214 Community Education Director Mike Field.
"We would like to make Arlington our permanent home," Field said.
He said in recent years, approximately 3,000 people, mostly senior citizens have attended the event and participated in the variety of services offered. Services offered that day include:
* Free health screenings and testing that includes blood pressure, bone density, chair massage, glaucoma and vision testing, hearing testing and consultation, posture, gait and balance, and more.
* Senior services informtion
* "Ask the Doctors" panel at 10:30 a.m. on the main stage.
* Entertainment and refreshments
* Issuing of Secretary of State photo ID's
* Hourly prize drawings
Services will be located in between stores throughout the indoor mall.
Wheeling and Elk Grove townships will provide bus transportation. Local residents interested in attending must call in advance for reservations.
The event is sponsored by the Arlington Heights Senior Center, Buffalo Grove Park District, City of Des Plaines, Des Plaines Community and Frisbie senior centers, Dist, 214 Community Education, Elk Grove Township, Mt. Prospect Human Services, Northwest Community Hospital, Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council, City of Prospect Heights, Randhurst Shopping Center, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), River Trails Park District, Rolling Meadows Park District Senior Center, The Volunteer Center of Northwest Suburban Chicago, Wheeling Pavilion Senior Center, and Wheeling Township.
