FBI Authorities Make Arrest In MP

A Charlottesville, Va., man was arrested last week without incident by FBI special agents and the Mt. Prospect Police Dept. at 1978 W. Algonquin Rd. for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting an underage female in April.

According to the FBI, Jeremias Chagala-Mil, 31, a Mexican national, was wanted by authorities in Virginia for those alleged crimes.

The initial investigation by the FBI in Richmond, Va., developed information indicating that Chagala-Mil was hiding with the girl in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago.

The FBI said the "subsequent investigation" by the FBI in Chicago and the Mt. Prospect Police Dept. led them to an apartment in Mt. Prospect, where both Chagala-Mil and the 12-year-old alleged victim were discovered.

Chagala-Mil was turned over to Cook County Sheriff's Police and is awaiting extradition to Virginia. The alleged female victim has been reunited with her family.
