Vehicle Sticker Needs To Be On By Tomorrow
Beginning tomorrow (Thursday), the Mt. Prospect Police Dept. will begin a village-wide vehicle license enforcement campaign.
According to village ordinance, every motor vehicle, motor driven vehicle, motor bicycle and/or trailer, semi-trailer, or other vehicle:
* That is owned or operated by a person who resides within the village; or
* That is owned by a company, firm or corporation which has a place of business located within the village; or
* That is registered with the state to an address located within the village, must display a current, properly purchased village vehicle license.
However, there are three exceptions:
* The vehicle has a registered owner on active U.S. military duty stationed outside Illinois.
* The vehicle is kept and operated primarily in another municipal jurisdiction and displays a current and valid license from that municipal jurisdiction.
* The vehicle displays a currently valid antique license plate issued by the Illinois Secretary of State.
Residents who fail to purchase and display a valid village vehicle license will be cited with a violation of village code. Village vehicle licenses must be displayed in the lower right hand portion of the front windshield on any vehicle. Residents, who purchase the license and fail to display, may be cited for failing to display the license. Trucks and motorcycles are also required to display village vehicle licenses. The police department will be conducting fixed saturation enforcement points at key intersections throughout the village during summer months, including intersections in residential neighborhoods, in an effort to increase compliance with the village code requiring the purchase and display of a vehicle license.
