Quake Felt Here

Shake, rattle and roll.

That's what some people in the area were experiencing last week when a 5.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred near the Indiana/Illinois border woke people up from their sleep at around 4:30 a.m. on Friday, Apr. 18. According to Cindy Barbera-Brelle, executive director of Northwest Central Dispatch System, 15 calls came in around that times from residents concerned about what occurred. She said one person called from Arlington Heights, two from Elk Grove Village, three from Mt. Prospect, five from Palatine, and one from Prospect Heights.

"All of the calls were just from people that were unsure of what occurred," said Barbera-Brelle. "There were no reported injuries or damage from any of those callers, but they all felt the quake."
