Emerson Closings Expected Until June
Motorists beware if driving by village hall on Emerson Street through the middle of June.
For the past three weeks, public works crews have been working on a $650,000 project that consists of new sidewalks and curbs, in addition to checking water mains and electrical lines, said Sean Dorsey, asst. director of public works.
Dorsey said the improvements are a continuation of the streetscape project that started over a year ago, revamping the entire downtown area by Village Hall. Some of those projects included installing brick sidewalks, new lighting and outdoor furniture.
"That road was definitely slated for work and it has been put off for a couple of years," said Dorsey.
There have already been temporary road closures on Emerson and those are expected to continue from time to time until the work is completed.
The project consists of repair work on Emerson Street from Northwest Hwy. to Central Road and along Busse Avenue from Maple Street to Elmhurst Road (Rt. 83).
