    Triangle Plan Allows For More Parking

    Does anyone have a crystal ball? Will the Mt. Prospect Village Board vote on Tuesday, May 20 to redevelop the downtown "triangle" at a cost of $40-45 million, or will it be denied and started over from scratch?

    Neighbors Still Have Issues With Proposal

    A steady stream of residents and village board members chimed in with their views and opinions about the proposed re-development of the village's downtown triangle Tuesday night.

    Village To Buy 'Perfect Petal' Property

    An ordinance adopted Tuesday by trustees clears the way for the village to purchase a piece of property in the downtown triangle in the amount of $230,000.

    MP Police 'HEAT' Up

    Mt. Prospect Police Chief John Dahlberg recently announced the creation of the department's Hotspot Enforcement & Assistance Team (HEAT) program, scheduled to kick off tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon in the area of Algonquin Road and Dempster Street.

    YOTI Hearing Delayed Due To 'Good Faith'

    Tomorrow's (Thursday) hearing to revoke Ye Olde Town Inn restaurant and bar owner Tod Curtis' liquor license due to alleged village building code violations has been delayed, according to Village Manager Michael Janonis.

    Rep. Kirk Joins Fight Against Online Predators

    U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk (10th) Monday was joined by Mt. Prospect Mayor Irvana Wilks, Mt. Prospect Police Chief John Dahlberg and officer Dirk Ollech, 10th Congressional district parents and teachers Janet Joy and Bonnie Graham of Arlington Hts. in calling for federal action to protect youngsters from predators and registered sex offenders on "Second Life" and other social networking websites.

    FBI Authorities Make Arrest In MP

    A Charlottesville, Va., man was arrested last week without incident by FBI special agents and the Mt. Prospect Police Dept. at 1978 W. Algonquin Rd. for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting an underage female in April.

    Teens Go Hungry To Raise Awareness

    A few weeks ago, 14 teenagers, who are members of a Mt. Prospect church, went 30 hours without eating.

    Annual Senior Day Returning To Randhurst

    The 20th Annual Senior Celebration Day will be held on Wednesday, May 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Randhurst Shopping Center in Mt. Prospect, for the last time.

    Small Changes In Triangle Plan

    Prior to possible approval this Tuesday, modifications have been made by the Heimbaugh Capital Development Corp. to its $40-$45 million residential/retail plan for the Mt. Prospect's downtown triangle.

    Changes In Iraq Seen As Positive

    Through a satellite connection, 37-year-old Major David Chipchase, a Mt. Prospect native, talked to the Journal about the success of current operations in Iraq, the soldiers of his brigade, and progress made by the Iraqi Army and police forces in his area.

    Finances In Good Condition

    The Village of Mt. Prospect remains in "good financial condition," according to Dave Erb, finance director.

    Meeting To Bring Fire Station Closer

    Within the next couple weeks, a meeting will be held between attorneys from the Village of Mt. Prospect, River Trails Park District and River Trails School Dist. 26 to attempt to finalize a contract allowing a new $8.5 million Fire Station 14 to be constructed on the village's northeast side.

    YOTI To Re-Open?

    Mt. Prospect's Ye Olde Town Inn restaurant may re-open for business as soon as Tuesday, May 6, after the establishment was ordered to close on Friday, Apr. 11 due to the village filing a temporary restraining order (TRO) in a Cook County Circuit Court.

    The Illinois Fire Chiefs Association has selected Mt. Prospect Fire Chief Michael Figolah as its 2008 "Fire Chief of the Year". He will be honored at the organization's annual meeting on Friday, May 16 in Peoria.

    Quake Felt Here

    Shake, rattle and roll. That's what some people in the area were experiencing last week when a 5.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred near the Indiana/Illinois border woke people up from their sleep at around 4:30 a.m. on Friday, Apr. 18.

    Euclid Principal Gone After Alleged Threat

    Recently departed Euclid Elementary School Principal Maria Martinez was "relieved of her duties" at the end of the day on Thursday, Mar. 20 after she allegedly threatened to kill the school secretary and Supt. Dr. Dane Delli earlier in the day, according to information obtained by the Journal.

    Society Expects To Move Central School By Mid-May

    Relocating the 1896 Central Schoolhouse in Mt. Prospect is expected to tentatively happen on Saturday, May 17 from its current location at the corner of Wille and Thayer streets to 103 S. Maple St., according to President of the Mt. Prospect Historical Society Marilyn Genther.
