Glenview Business Notes
Installation of Glenview Chamber of Commerce officers and directors will take place Friday, Jan. 8 at North Shore Country Club. Noon luncheon will follow an 11:30 a.m. reception.
The 2010 Executive Board includes Chairman Greg Goodsitt of Edward Jones, Chairman-Elect Mary Venezia of Johnny's Kitchen & Tap, Vice-Chairman Mary Alverado of North Shore University HealthSystem, Treasurer Jerry Doetsch of Koenig & Strey, and Past Chairman Maureen Morey of Koenig & Strey.
The 2010 Board of Directors includes Kooi Lin Chaddah of Northview Bank & Trust, Charles Hass of H&H Entertainment, Cornell Jackson of Costco, Albert Johnson of Johnson Orthodontics, Paul Jones of Glenview State Bank, Darren Loveless of The Abington, James Martin of Corporate Print Source, Karen Paszkiewicz of Catered By Design, Karen Patterson of Karm & Patterson, Tim Sikoral of The Glen Town Center, Sheridan Turner of Kohl Children's Museum and Maria Woltmann of Hlavacek Florist.
Theresa "Terry" Anderson, of Koenig & Strey's office located in The Glen, was honored at the December meeting of the North Shore Chapter of the Women's Council of Realtors (WCR) with the "Realtor of the Year" award. In addition, Terry was elected and sworn in as the 2010 president elect for the North Shore Chapter of the WCR.
"We're very proud of Terry and her commitment to the organization as well as to her profession. We're excited about this therefore her recognition is well deserved," said Michael Mazzei, senior vice president and branch executive of Koenig & Strey GMAC's offices in downtown Glenview and The Glen.
Glenview Learning Center operated by College Nannies & Tutors is opening a Homework Lab for students in grades 3 and up. Managing Director and Owner, Laura Horwitz, has seen the need for students to have a quiet place to do homework away from distractions. Listening to the needs of parents and families, Laura has decided to provide help for local families that are struggling with this issue.
The lab will be supervised by qualified tutors who can answer general questions and help students focus on their work. There will be basic school supplies and a computer for supervised Internet research. For more information and a free session to the Homework Lab, contact Laura Horwitz at 847-998-5657.
The Northbrook YMCA welcomed Michelle Greenfield Burnstein as its new director of Children's Services. Burnstein, a reading specialist who holds a Masters Degree in Education, has been involved in various aspects of children's education including teaching first grade and tutoring.
