Police Blotter
The following records are from the files of the Glenview Village Police Dept. The Glenview Journal publishes its "Police Blotter" every issue:
EXPLOITATION CHARGED
Donald J. Engels Sr., 77, of 735 Carriage Hill Drive, Glenview, was charged with financial exploitation of an elderly person and theft. He was taken into custody at his home at 10:40 a.m. Nov. 25. The incident occurred on Aug. 13.
DOMESTIC BATTERY CHARGED
Jose G. Perez, 28, of 407 Fourth St., Northfield, was charged with domestic battery at 11:07 p.m. Nov. 18. He was taken into custody at his home after he allegedly battered a family member.
HARASSMENT CHARGED
Henry Gasser, 56, of 1801 Tower Drive, Glenview, was charged with harassment by electronic communication. Police took him into custody at his home at 9 p.m. Nov. 24. Police did not explain what acts warranted the charge.
THEFT CHARGED
Patrick R. Gut, 21, of 4833 N. Olcott St., Harwood Heights, was charged with theft at Von Maur, 1960 Tower Drive. He was taken into custody at 5:07 p.m. Nov. 19 while employed at the store.
DRUG CHARGES
Carl T. Robello, 22, 144 Harlem Ave. Glenview, was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia at 10:44 p.m. Nov. 19. Police stopped him in the 2500 block of Glenview Road. During a search, a smoking pipe and suspected marijuana were allegedly located in his car.
DUI CHARGES
Martha Rashedi, 50, of 4159 N. Moody Ave., Chicago, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage. Police stopped her at 3:17 a.m. Nov. 19 in the 4200 block of West Lake Avenue.
Hyung Y Yu, 48, of 3139 Forest Drive, West Lake, Ohio, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, no proof of insurance, and improper lane usage. An officer stopped him in the 3300 block of Milwaukee Avenue at 4:36 a.m. Nov. 19.
Gerson G. Morales, 31, of 8503 N. Fernald Ave., Morton Grove, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended driver's license, suspended registration, improper lane usage, and no taillights. Police stopped him at 1:57 a.m. Nov. 20 in the 9800 block of Milwaukee Avenue.
Michael M. Sopocy, 26, of 3623 Glenview Rd., Glenview, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, improper lane usage, and disobeying a traffic control device. Police stopped him at 3:15 a.m. Nov. 23 in the 1200 block of Waukegan Road.
Gonzalo Arreola, 28, of 4157 W. 25th St., Chicago, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and no proof of insurance. Police pulled him over at 5:37 a.m. Nov. 22 in the 4300 block of West Lake Avenue.
Tomas Breton-Martinez, 27, of 508 Love Drive, Prospect Heights, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, possession of drug paraphernalia, and improper lane usage. He was pulled over in the 2800 block of West Lake Avenue at 2:15 a.m. Nov. 24.
Nair G. Padmakumar, 41, of 10395 Dearlove Rd., Glenview, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, and improper lane usage. Police stopped him at 10:47 p.m. Nov. 24 in the 4100 block of Deerlove Road.
Omar Mendoza, 22, of 2525 S. Springfield Ave., Chicago, was charged with aggravated driving while under the influence of alcohol, driving with a revoked driver's license, no proof of insurance, and improper lane usage. An officer stopped him in the 1900 block of Johns Drive at 3:40 a.m. Nov. 25.
Chunmei Wu, 36, of 4290 Central Rd., Glenview, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and illegal transportation of alcohol. Police found him allegedly passed out behind the wheel of a running vehicle in the 3500 block of Milwaukee Avenue at 2:32 a.m. Nov. 27.
Marcos Nava-Nava, 35, of 661 Piper Lane, Wheeling, was charged with aggravated driving while under the influence of alcohol and no valid driver's license. She was stopped in the 9800 block of Milwaukee Avenue at 3:08 a.m. Nov. 27.
RETAIL THEFT CHARGED
Ruth M. Horwitz, 62, of 441 Kelborn Rd., Deerfield, was charged with retail theft at 11:45 a.m. Nov. 26. She was taken into custody at Von Maur, 1960 Tower Drive.
BURGLARIES AND THEFTS
An employee at Kohl's department store, 2101 Willow Rd., allegedly took $1,400 cash from the store. When confronted by security at 6:55 p.m. Nov. 15, the employee fled from the store before police arrived.
Someone entered a home in the 3800 block of Brett Lane before 11:16 a.m. Nov. 15. Rooms were ransacked but it was unknown what was taken from the house.
Someone took items from a home in the 1900 block of East Ridgewood Lane before 4:08 a.m. Nov. 15. They also poured paint on the furniture and floor.
Wire, electrical supplies, plumbing supplies, tools, and other construction materials were taken from inside a building under construction in the 2600 block of Patriot Boulevard and from locked trailers outside of the building. The burglary occurred between 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15 and 6 a.m. Nov. 17.
A television and change were taken from a home in the 1700 block of Wildberry Lane between 5 and 7 p.m. Nov. 17.
Someone took a laptop computer, a television, two watches, and a bracelet from a home in the 1500 block of Winnetka Road between 6:35 and 8:15 p.m. Nov. 17.
Someone entered an unlocked vehicle in the 1500 block of Longvalley Drive before 10:21 a.m. Nov. 23. Nothing was taken from the vehicle.
A purse was taken from the office at Trinity Church, 2328 Central Rd., before 12:29 p.m. Nov. 23. A credit card from the purse was used at two local stores.
A global positioning system and a credit card were taken from an unlocked van in the 700 block of Beaver Street. The burglary occurred before 12:44 p.m. Nov. 23.
Someone took a suitcase and $5 cash from a car in the 1400 block of Glenwood Avenue before 1 p.m. Nov. 23. The suitcase was recovered in the 1600 block of Waukegan Road.
Three vehicles were broken into at the North Glen Train Station, 2301 Lehigh Ave. between 8 a.m. and 5:25 p.m. Nov. 24. A window was broken on each vehicle; a stereo, a global positioning system, a satellite radio, and a cellular telephone were taken from the cars.
