GBS Gets New Fitness Center
Glenbrook South High School students lined up outside the windows of a newly completed $1.5 million workout facility to sneak a peak at the new facility that features more weight machines than many health clubs.
The project is the first to be completed as part of a massive $94 million referendum restoration construction plan at both the North and South campuses.
Principal Brian Wegley said he was "thrilled" with the way the new room was finished.
Wegley said the GBS Boosters Club provided some of the equipment.
Wegley especially liked how large bay windows flood the room with natural light and provide a view of the tennis courts.
He said the plan for the room was modeled after a similar weight room at Glenbrook North.
The new room will open up space for three new classrooms in the old space.
Athletes are taking a week off from training, but Wegley expects the room to be fully used by student athletes as soon as next week.
