Glenview Gardeners will sponsor a plant exchange for their May meeting to be held on Thursday, May 8, 7:15 p.m. at the home of Gloria and Len Tralmer. Plant divisions and cuttings grown by members are acclimated to the area and garden tested. Members also provide helpful hints and tips for the successful propagations of their offerings. Glenview Gardeners is an area garden club open to both men and women who are interested in all aspects of gardening. Programs include indoor/outdoor gardening, landscape design and specialty gardening. Guests are welcome. United Gardeners of Glenview will present "Art of Feng Shui Gardening" by Judith Miller, certified teacher of Feng Shui. The Home Sweet Home Conference, set for this Monday, May 12 from 8:30 a.m.-noon at the Winnetka Woman's Club, will provide practical resources for seniors, individuals with disabilities and their families. The conference offers a forum to meet with vendors, gain valuable insight from speakers, and take home practical strategies to maintain an independent lifestyle. The keynote address will be delivered by State Rep. Beth Coulson and will provide a summary of legislative issues affecting seniors and individual with disabilities and the impact on local communities. Admission to the conference is free. American Legion Poppy Day in Glenview is Thursday, May 22. Members of American Legion Post 166 will be giving out "poppies" during the morning at various locations to support our country's disabled veterans. May 25

"God Bless America! For Those Who Gave Their All", a Memorial Day weekend concert, will be held Sunday, May 25, at 4 p.m. at Glenview Community Church, 1000 Elm Street. Trisha Melzer-Swaydrak and friends will be joined by special guests The Navy Band Great Lakes Wind Ensemble in performing. The concert is free and open to the public. May 30-June 1

Grab your passport and travel the world as The Glen Town Center is transformed into an international outdoor wine tasting extravaganza. The three-day event from May 30-June 1 at Navy Park will feature wines from around the world for sampling within informal, open air tasting rooms. A variety of food tastings from The Glen's featured restaurants will be offered, as well as live music, Friday, 5-10 p.m. Saturday, 12-10 p.m. and Sunday, 12-8 p.m. The Glen will provide fun crafts and interactive activities for children.

June 7

The Glen Town Center is inviting children, ages six and under, to become a member of the "Flight to Fun" Kids Club, a new program featuring entertaining storytelling and age-appropriate activities including: face painting, character appearances, balloon twisting and more! "Flight to Fun" Kids Club will be held monthly with the following event dates and times currently being announced: "I Believe in Me!" sponsored by the Kerasotes Glen 10 Theatres Saturday, June 7; 1:30-2:30 p.m. Story time will be provided by the Glenview Public Library. St. Norbert Parish, 1809 Walters Avenue, Northbrook, will be hosting ( its third annual Block Party on Saturday, June 14 from( 2:30-10:30 p.m. Start ( the day with a 5K run/walk or Kids Dash and one-mile( run, then stay for kids activities including giant inflatables, spin art, a visit by Chicago Fire players and more. Kids will love the performance by Mindy( Hester, and everyone can rock with Out of Control Band( and Mr. Blotto. The beer garden and grill are a must. The Glenview Art League is sponsoring a new art gallery show at The Book Market Hangar, The Glen Town Center. The Glen Town Center provides a permanent home for the Glenview Art League to showcase the original works of local artists year-round in a gallery setting. The new installation will feature six local artists: Adele Aronson (etchings); Jim Brooksher (oil); Diane Czerwinski (watercolors); Susan Liebman (gouache); Mina Ogden (watercolor); Virginia Zielinski (oil). The exhibit is open through July 7. The Glenview Art League has been serving the needs of Glenview area artists since the 1950s and sponsors several activities including a summer art fair, youth art fair, weekly painting sessions, workshops and exhibit opportunities. This summer

Grab the entire family for the "North Shore Car Show at The Glen" featuring classic, vintage and a NASCAR simulator held the third Sunday of each month throughout the summer. Visitors and assigned judges will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite car to determine the winners in a variety of categories of the show. Refreshments and entertainment will available. WHEN: Sunday, June 15, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. (NASCAR simulator); Sunday, July 20, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sunday, Aug. 17, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Cars will be parked in Navy Park and dispersed along Tower Drive (The Glen's main drag) for best viewing. The Glenview Art League invites interested artists of original fine art to become exhibitors at its 54th annual juried 2006 Outdoor Art Fair on Saturday and Sunday, July 26-27. The event will be held at Lyon School, corner of Lake Ave. and Waukegan Rd., Glenview. There is an entry fee plus a jury fee requested. Entry applicants must be received by May 1.
