Glenview Community Church Nursery School (GCCNS) is hosting its third annual Spring Boutique on Wednesday, Apr. 23, to be held at the church at 1000 Elm Street in Glenview. The Spring Boutique will feature a selection of accessories and home décor products---just in time for Mother's Day, graduation and other special events. Admission is free and open to the public. The Spring Boutique will be open from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Twenty vendors will show their spring lines in jewelry, stationary, note cards, toys, women's and children's clothing, purses and belts, home design, personalized ceramics and health and beauty products. The Spring Boutique is co-chaired by Lori Eshoo, Lindy Hood and Adriana Pauletto, all Glenview residents and GCCNS parents. Glenview Community Church Nursery School, a premier early childhood program, is celebrating its 60th anniversary of providing a nurturing environment where each child is encouraged in all areas of growth.

April 26

The Glenview Lions Club will have its annual Sock Hop on Saturday, Apr. 26, at Hackney's on Lake. The event features listening and dancing to DJ Charlie Hass playing request from an extensive collection of hits from the 50's and 60's, with waves of hors d'oeuvres being served throughout the evening. Also built into the $100 admission price is a poker hand which is built by the guest by drawing one card at a time from five different locations around the event. At 10 p.m., the best poker hand with a $1,000 cash prize. There will be other prizes for the poker side of the event as well as prizes for best dancers, trivia question responses and best costumes. April 27

On Sunday, Apr. 27 join Touchstones at Evelyn Pease Tyner Interpretive Center at Air Station Prairie in The Glen for "Renewal in the Wilderness", a workshop lead by John Lionberger. Participants will get an overview of wilderness travel, and see why it's a powerful path to experiencing God. As John says, "It's about experiencing yourself and your world in a different way...about finding a personal, heart-based relationship with God." John Lionberger is founder of Renewal in the Wilderness, an organization that takes men and women from all denominations and faith traditions out of their normal environments for wilderness travel to give them a chance to spend extraordinary time with God. The workshop will be from 4-5:30 p.m. The Interpretive Center is located at 2400 Compass Road in Glenview.

April 30

The Glenview Branch of the American Association of University Women will hold its spring dinner meeting on Wednesday, Apr. 30 at the North Shore Country Club, 1340 Glenview Road, at 6:30 p.m. Following dinner, members and guests will hear Gina Logan speak on women in advertising. The Glenview Women of Today will host a Spring Meet and Greet on Wednesday, Apr. 30. This is an opportunity to present information and answer any questions from those interested in our organization. Glenview/Northbrook Kiwanis Club is sponsoring a Wesley Child Care Pizza Mania Fundraising Event. Pizza Mania will be held on Friday, May 2, at Wesley Mainsite, 727 Harlem Avenue, Glenview from 5-9 p.m. Eat pizza, pop, and dessert till your heartís content. Tickets in advance are $5 for ages 2-12 and $10 for ages 13 & up. Tickets at the door are $6 for ages 2-12 and $12 for ages 13 & up. Raffle tickets are just 3 for $5, 6 for $10 and 16 for $20. Thereís great entertainment, tons of raffle prizes, and an outstanding silent auction. Proceeds go to Wesley Child Care Center for scholarships and program enhancements. The Glen Town Center is inviting children, ages six and under, to become a member of the "Flight to Fun" Kids Club, a new program featuring entertaining storytelling and age-appropriate activities including: face painting, character appearances, balloon twisting and more! "Flight to Fun" Kids Club will be held monthly with the following event dates and times currently being announced: "Celebrate Spring", May 3; 10:30-11:30 a.m.; "I Believe in Me!" sponsored by the Kerasotes Glen 10 Theatres Saturday, June 7; 1:30-2:30 p.m. Story time will be provided by the Glenview Public Library. The Women's Board of Kohl Children's Museum presents the third annual "Touch-A-Truck" family festival on Sunday, May 4, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Fields Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Northfield. The annual "Touch-A-Truck" provides the opportunity for pint-sized vehicles in a safe and protected environment. The event features more than 25 major vehicles including a school bus, fire engines and construction vehicles. Tickets are $25 per family for up to six and free parking is available. Proceeds benefit Kohl Children's Museum.

May 8

Glenview Gardeners will sponsor a plant exchange for their May meeting to be held on Thursday, May 8, 7:15 p.m. at the home of Gloria and Len Tralmer. Plant divisions and cuttings grown by members are acclimated to the area and garden tested. Members also provide helpful hints and tips for the successful propagations of their offerings. Glenview Gardeners is an area garden club open to both men and women who are interested in all aspects of gardening. Programs include indoor/outdoor gardening, landscape design and specialty gardening. Guests are welcome. May 30-June 1

Grab your passport and travel the world as The Glen Town Center is transformed into an international outdoor wine tasting extravaganza. The three-day event from May 30-June 1 at Navy Park will feature wines from around the world for sampling within informal, open air tasting rooms. A variety of food tastings from The Glen's featured restaurants will be offered, as well as live music, Friday, 5-10 p.m. Saturday, 12-10 p.m. and Sunday, 12-8 p.m. The Glen will provide fun crafts and interactive activities for children.

July 26-27

The Glenview Art League invites interested artists of original fine art to become exhibitors at its 54th annual juried 2006 Outdoor Art Fair on Saturday and Sunday, July 26-27. The event will be held at Lyon School, corner of Lake Ave. and Waukegan Rd., Glenview. There is an entry fee plus a jury fee requested. Entry applicants must be received by May 1. The Glenview Art League is sponsoring a new art gallery show at The Book Market Hangar, The Glen Town Center. The Glen Town Center provides a permanent home for the Glenview Art League to showcase the original works of local artists year-round in a gallery setting. The new installation will feature six local artists: Adele Aronson (etchings); Jim Brooksher (oil); Diane Czerwinski (watercolors); Susan Liebman (gouache); Mina Ogden (watercolor); Virginia Zielinski (oil). The exhibit is open through July 7. The Glenview Art League has been serving the needs of Glenview area artists since the 1950s and sponsors several activities including a summer art fair, youth art fair, weekly painting sessions, workshops and exhibit opportunities.
