Carlson accepted a $27,000 check from GHOF repaying a village loan used to purchase the first statue at Navy Park. Proceeds for the loan were generated by funds from the sale of memorial bricks honoring those who have served in the armed forces. To this date, over 500 bricks have been sold. The next order for bricks will arrive this Spring, the GHOF reported. Bricks can be ordered at $100 each by contacting Hangar One Foundation Memorial Brick Program, P.O. Box 198, Glenview, IL 60025-0198.
Along with the check presentation, GHOF election results were also announced. The winning ballot for GHOF candidates who will serve two-year terms is as follows: President, Frank Mack; Vice-President (Operations), William Marquardt; and Directors, John Crawford, Mary Long, Michael Luxem and Edward Taicsich. The winning candidate for a one-year term to fulfill Director Ronald Reisener's term was Bobby V. Ferguson.
Continuing officers with terms expiring in January 2005 include Vice President (Finance), Leo Kaye; Secretary, Gerrit Van Wissink; and Directors, Mary Martin Fisk, Andrew Jackson and Kurt Lawson.
The mission of GHOF members is "to commemorate the historical contribution to the men and women who served at Glenview Naval Air Station."
