Trustees Review Options For New, Improved Elk Grove Website
Village staffers presented templates for a redesigned Elk Grove Village website at a Committee of the Whole meeting last Tuesday.
The village currently operates three websites, one for village government at http://www.elkgrove.org, one dedicated to village businesses at http://www.elkgrove.com and EGTV Channel Six at http://channel6.elkgrove.org that would be merged into one site.
A new site could be online as soon as next month that would include a community calendar, links to various village programs and to agendas and meetings all on the homepage as well as a center file of updated village news.
Information Committee Chair Trustee Christine Prochno said in addition to village board and commission meetings the calendar page would try to include as many community events as possible to allow for a one stop shop for residents to quickly see what is going on in the village.
She said accessing village board minutes and finding other items would be much simpler with the new site.
Last September the village awarded a $60,000 website design contract to California-based Vision Company to design the site.
Half of the $60,000 contract cost would come from the village's Industrial Commercial Revitalization Commission fund and half from the village's General fund.
The contract is a "not to exceed" contract meaning $60,000 is the maximum that may be spent and not necessarily the total cost.
